What are your top 3 Destiny story missions?

We all know that Destiny's story has a lot to answer for, but I wanted to see something different here - what stories has Destiny done well? What type of mission and mission mechanics can bungie implement to make their future stories better? Hopefully this criticism will get back to Deej and we can get an answer on the quality of future story missions. EDIT: Please favourite this post so it'd more likely Deej will see it! EDIT x2: YES I KNOW THE STORY SUCKS OVERALL: this isn't a post about defending the story quality - it's about letting the Dev's know what we want to see in future stories!
Sword of Crota...sucked. The sword-work was ridiculous, (even by video game standards), the plot didn't make any sense, and the voice acting was uninspired. Just my opinion. No hate for those of you who liked it; I can see how finally getting some variety would totally appeal to many people.
I really liked the feel of "The Last Array", but I kept expecting Rasputin to DO something. Why didn't he activate a stack of combat frames to help us? I understand what we did, physically, but what did we actually achieve? Why isn't the array STILL OPEN when I go back there? How did opening it lead the plot forward, considering we can just get in a ship and fly to the moon without ever even completing that mission? Why do we never see another array on another planet? Why did any of that matter at all, if there are already "Guardians fighting on Earth and beyond"? What I want to see from future stories...I want the narrative to have some sort of logical relation to the lore and mechanics of the rest of the product. My problem is not that the story is short, it's that you can deconstruct nearly every line of dialog, and the stated reasons/impact of every event, and show with minimal effort that they either directly contradict some other part of the game, or that they are completely disconnected from everything that follows. The story is not a story. It feels like someone who had no idea what the plot arc was originally supposed to be had to add cut-scenes and voice-overs into existing missions in a hasty attempt to stitch them together in some sort of halfway believable sequence. The result is an uncompelling and incoherent mess. It's fixable, because somewhere along the line somebody decided to let the Vex manipulate time and space; You could rewrite the all the dialog to make it fit the world and the action in the existing missions, re-record the voice actors (or get new ones), and change the ending. The stranger gives you a rifle that shouldn't exist yet, the Vex attack the tower, and the Speaker (or the Vex, or the Speaker who is actually Vex) uses spacemagic to warp you back to being dead in the trunk of a car in Kazakhstan, and you play through the missions again, but this time they've been written by a team of professionals. Right now the missions seem more believable if you turn the volume down to avoid hearing Peter Dinklage fumble his way through a nonsensical script, and just make some shit up in your head to explain what you're seeing on the screen. Unfortunately it's also always going to be fundamentally illogical and broken, because somewhere along the line, somebody decided to let the Vex manipulate time and space, which means nothing we do to stop them will ever matter, because they can cheat.

  • Getting to swing the sword of scrotum was pretty fun, wish there was more use of melee weapons

The game's "plot": You're alive even though you were death, you must have so many questions, we will not answer a single one, not even try or start, so let's do stuff. Why? Because we light and they darkness. Warmind Rasputin. What did you say? Nevermind. Let's go to the moon. Why? That's where wizards come from. Lets visit their huge cave, every tourist guide recommends it. Oh someone just called us from Venus, that's neat, that call must have been expensive, let's go there. Oh finally someone will tell me something... ah ah you wish! "Darkness! I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain." Well can't you just call or text me later? You already have my little light's number (somehow, stalker...) oh she's gone... Well where is that black garden of "legends" that I never actually heard about? Let's ask for directions to some rude condescending people... Man, they really were ass holes, well to Mars! Did you know that during the collapse the vex pretty much turned mercury into a machine within days. What?! Nevermind that. Rasputin again. What are you talking about?!! And who are these fat guys I'm killing? Was the exclusion zone excluded because of them? Hmm forget about that let's go to the black garden... But why? Because a stranger told us, pay attention. In the black garden: oh look a big blob surrounded by dusty vex. What is it? What is it doing? Why is it doing it? How is it doing it? How do we even know it is affecting us? Does it matter? Shooting the robots will undoubtedly solve everything that is wrong with our high tech mini moon that seems to be sick for some reason. (Personally I think it needs a hug and a night light to be less afraid of the dark) Literally the exact moment we destroy the blob by killing its guards (because logic): oh look our mini moon back on earth seems to be better already, that was fast, also everyone seems to have noticed already too and the speaker that doesn't say anything useful is already calling us back to hear a speech that also doesn't say anything and makes him sound like the leader of a cult. Well ok... The stranger robot that for some reason has boobs: "you and I know the truth, the darkness is still out there". Well it better be because so far this game really needs a plot to go with the setting and universe (that actually sounds really interesting and full of potential). The end. For the actual plot stay tuned for the expansions.

      • The intro mission when you start a new character. It made me think I was in for something amazing. The mission where you first meet the stranger. She is cool and intriguing and that had me looking forward to what was next. The Mars mission to infiltrate the Dust Palace. I love the interior combat far more than open spaces, and the Cabal remind me of space marines.

      • Sword of Crota Sword of Crota Sword of Crota Seriously, it's the only mission that doesn't make me want to stab myself in the eye. It is also the first mission where I truly thought "This game is AMAZING" followed quickly by "BOW DOWN TO MY MIGHTY DARKNESS POWERS <snick snick>" and then "awe......." when the sword disappeared and the mission ended

          • The one that I watched them play at E3 last year. Was cool watching your allies drop from their ships. Wish we could join our friends at any point in the mission instead of starting in the same spot on [insert planet] every blamming time.

            • Okay lots of repeats and I'll repeat a lot of them too but it says something doesn't it? The array mission with hive attack Sword of Croata although to short. An unexpected call or whatever. The one where you first meet the vex. I was nervous as shit the first time I saw 'em. And one of the most genuinely funny lines in the story from dinklebot "can't we just stay with the murderous robots". Sadly one of the worst as well. " I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain" are you -blam!-ing serious. Anyway got side tracked. Lastly the black garden was great. Except what the hell was that cut scene at the end with the speaker and all the guardians. Very anticlimactic.

Starting mission stands out. Its one of the few without defend Dinklebot bull.hit Crota is fun simply because of the sword . When something as simple as changing the primary from gun to sword consistently stands out as everyone's top 2 favorites for the whole game, you've failed horribly.

              • 1. The Last Array, I just love the end with the Hive assault and the amazing music in the background. 2. Sword of Crota, I just like this mission. 3. The Black Garden, I really enjoyed the sci-fi element of it and the end score when fighting the bosses was fantastic.

              • First mission was my favorite hands down. The Last Array was also really cool and the music was amazing. It actually felt like you were doing something there, releasing Rasputin, and if the story was actually present and we had a better idea of what he was and the things he's done between story missions and strikes, we probably still would. The exclusion zone was also quite neat, with the exception of the end of it being a little anticlimactic. I was expecting a large battle with the cabal at the gate, but discovering the gate to the black garden and seeing wisps of darkness rising off of it even while it was inactive made an impression. Not to mention the mission was a good introduction to the Cabal.

Probably the opening--it was just awesome and intense; The Scourge of Winter--which, while sorta out of place, felt properly done; and the Sword of Crota, because big -blam!-ing swords of death.

                    • First that come to mind story wise are Scourge of Winter I just loved the atmosphere and the setting. Fallen ship on Venus with a badass boss dude who just laughed while fighting for his life in the throne room. Nice! The Rising Tide This paved road for the finale nicely. Black Garden The contradictions in this story make it very compelling. The heart of evil is a place of serenity.

                      • 1. Sword of Corta 2. the mission on earth where the ships with hive attack u while that huge dish opens up in the backround 3. The first mission on the moon were u open up the temple and a billion dudes rush ur face. Really epic feeling. Basically i really like the first half of the game but by the time u make it venus u learn the story sucks. Some on the vex mission make me want to rip out my hair and the cabal feel the same. Just mindlessness for reasons?!#$
