As we all know Bungie are big fans of nerfing aspects of Destiny without fixing the problems behind them. Some of the nerfs I have agreed with, and some I haven't, and I am sure we have all had similar thoughts on the matter.
With the weekly update, it has been said that during the Atheon fight, rather than the furthest 3 players being teleported, instead it will be a random 3. Now I don't think I need to get into the reason why this is a terrible idea, as anyone who plays with a regular team knows just how badly this is going to ruin the flow of the encounter, and how it will destroy a month of fine tuning to get your team acting as a well oiled machine.
They claim that the current teleporting selection is a bug. A bug I haven't seen mentioned before. Anywhere. I may have missed it but I haven't seen this mechanic called a bug before. It wasn't called a bug when a team made history beating the VOG before anyone else and were celebrated and rewarded by Bungie. It wasn't a bug when the first team completed the VOG on hard mode. But now that more and more people are completing the raid, and with nothing else to do until December, suddenly it is a bug. They are so scared that people are finishing all the content too fast, so that when December rolls around the player base will have dramatically decreased due to lack of content and nobody will be interested enough in the game anymore to buy DLC.
They are essentially nerfing the players, or more specifically they are nerfing teams of people who have found a strategy that works well for them. No longer will we be allowed to play to our groups strengths and weaknesses, making us less a team and more a group of individuals. They are inventing "bugs" so they have a reason to nerf the players in the blind hope that more people wont finish the VOG and perhaps stick around until December.
Yes this is a rant, and yes this is my personal opinion based almost entirely on speculation. But since Activision is the publisher it is safe to assume that every single decision made is an attempt to increase profits, and not improve the players' experience.
I love this game, but it is getting harder to love with every decision made. So please, Bungie, don't break the raid. I promise, if you keep the game fun people will buy the DLC, myself included.
No polls for this, no questions asked, just my opinion and how I see things after too much beer and too little sleep, which for some reason I want DeeJ or someone from Bungie to read.
EDIT: For those who think this is about keeping the raid as easy as possible, it is not. It is about eliminating the most fun aspect of the raid: teamwork. This is the only place teams currently have to try strategies and roles, strategies they have been perfecting for weeks. So what if teams are getting too good at the raid, isn't that the point? Eventually the new mechanics will become easy too so it isn't really making the raid harder, just eliminating the one area in the game where we can effectively work as a team, rather than just a group of individuals.

Thats how it will be with crota too.

I like that I can keep my exotics but I hate how Someone who JUST GOT Their EXOTICS gets the benefit of keeping all ascendant materials that I had to use to UPGRADE MY FULLY LEVELED EXOTIC I believe bungie is doing this exotic reset partially because they don't know how to manage a game like this And I believe that they purposely did this reset SO PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT THE game for CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAYS would still have incentive to play so they wouldn't be left behind with the new content This same theory would apply to the casual once a week gamers so they aren't left behind also Leave your thoughts

There is no dlc. Its content you already own on the disc. The game wasn't completely released and all "dlc" areas are just cut up content from the game. They should have released the full game and came up with new parts to the story, new missions, new strike, and new raids for their dlc content. Instead we pay for them to push a button to unlock another portion of our disc.

I enjoy the changes to the atheon fight, everyone works, no one gets carried, it's nice.

You Sir may be alot of things and that includes being an idiot. But then theres one thing that you're certainly not, and that Sir is an idiot. Illuminati and Bungie - The root of all evil in Merica.

I sort of agree that the organisation of knowing who was being teleported made the raid a easier experience, but having said that, the relic is not that hard to use and it pisses me off when the first thing someone says when the raid starts is "just so you all know, I'm not picking up the shield" grrrr

Edited by Apollos: 12/4/2014 5:40:04 PMAgreed. People get really good at dark souls and that is a hard game. So why not the raid?
Praise The Sun
The fact that they are making ut so tough is exactly why im not sticking around. The loot system is crap. And if you dont have regulars to raid with because you know. Real life work and all that jazz, then your stuck with noobs who waste hours of your life. And when and if u do finally beat it. U get crap for drops

Edited by A Beaten Leaf: 12/4/2014 6:27:39 PMBungie is Not an Evil Company Neither is Walmart or Target or wherever. Again this is not ORIGINAL feedback that Bungie has not seen COUNTLESS times.

I completely agree. Bungie is screwing us.
-
I agree and I disagree. The raid is still easy as crap on hard and on normal. Although the loot systems are crap sometimes, (for a future rant post) the raid is still fairly easy. For example we beat Atheon on hard 4:15 first try and it was random teleports. I agree this game needs a few tweaks but I got the expansion pass and will continue to fully support this game unless they totally rip us off in the dlc

Hi. I'm from bungie One major bug we saw was that players can manually select missions. Don't worry, we'll fix it.
no we won't
-
Just learn how to use the damn relic. This is hardly the worst problem with Destiny.
-
I agree with this. People who say random teleports don't make a difference are wrong. If you have three people with weapons which deal extra damage to oracles, then they are the three you want through. Or, if perhaps someone is out of ammo and has twenty seconds left on their synthesiser, then its pointless having them teleport. At least the old way you could organise and plan out the fight than having to counteract randomly and potentially inconveniently teleported. And don't even get me started on the new wave of bugs that have come through after the 'fix'.... Like the shield and the portals not working, atheon regaining health and worst of all, no loot for certain party members.
-
It really wasn't a bug and it's made the raid impractical. If all level 29s get sent back on hard then you're boned. Maybe if two were random and you could have ONE person who always went back or something. but when you're on a good run then 3 level 29 hunters get sent back it's like okay we're dead let's start over. Assuming a realll bug didn't wipe you.
-
Everytime I have ever done the raid was with a pickup group, and I have no mic. I generally don't see a problem with random being teleported, it's easy to learn and forces everyone to be decent at all roles. Nothing to see here, move along.
-
Random teleports aren't a big deal. If the only thing you can do is shoot oracles and people are carrying you through the rest of the raid I can understand your anger...
-
I think we should just automatically assume no matter what bungie says its a lie till proven true
-
To bad for you that you suck. All 6 guys in my raid group have no issues. Hard mode to easy please add epic icy rediculous hardmode next time for those of us who aren't noobs.
-
One problem I noticed is that if one person is level 23-26 there is a damage de-buff for the entire group yesterday I took a group of people into the vault with the level 23 when we reached atheon I quit because we couldn't win with a body and 5 players if their wasn't a damage debuff for players I would've been able to complete the vault for the 4th time this week.
-
I like it. Makes completing it more rewarding as everyone must play their part.
-
It had to happen, man, I'm just too powerful
-
So really that team didn't make history because they didn't do it by "bungies way" haha
-
we beat bungie's raid (their best challenge to gamers thus far in Destiny) too easily and too soon. now we have to pay for that embarrassment......
-
Not gonna lie, I wasn't happy about the change but the fight actually is more fun now. If you tell Bungie though I will deny everything I'd probably hate pugging this though.
