I was thinking about the trade system as I killed an enemy and received a legendary helmet engram which later turned into the hunter class helmet (I'm a titan). I thought well why isn't there a trade system that's based on same rarity and same category. I don't see many flaws in this kind of trade system since you're basically trading the same rarity items for something of like value. The only flaws I can imagine thus far is if someone traded raid type legendary armor for regular legendary armor (like the ones at the tower that you receive by focusing on a faction). I then thought why not make legendary raid gear it's own category so you cannot trade it with regular legendary gear, the same goes with weapons as well. Addition: Another flaw I thought of is what if someone trades a maxed out exotic for a exotic that isn't maxed out, well then any armor/weapons you trade get reset upon trading. That way you will still have to upgrade them regardless. Example: If I have a legendary auto rifle and I didn't like it so much but a friend or some random person took a liking to my legendary auto rifle I could trade him/her it for a weapon of the same category (Primary) and same rarity (legendary). If a system like that is in place where you can trade like items based on category and rarity that would pretty much get rid of any chances of RWT. This also works with like materials for Example: I want to trade Ascendant energy for Ascendant shards, I'll just find someone who needs what I have and trade them the energy for the shards. The value remains equal and both players are happy. What do you the fellow Destiny gamers out there think of this idea, is it good or bad? I would like anyone who's interested in this idea to have a mature discussion rather then flame each other or me.

  • I like this idea a lot and think it's one of the better suggestions I've seen lately. The only issue I have is with only being able to trade primary for primary or chest piece for chest piece. I feel like you should be able to trade one armor piece or weapon for a different piece that is of the same rarity. Same for raid gear but both pieces must be raid gear. For instance, trading the 4th pair of raid boots you've gotten for the gloves that have never dropped for you.

  • Some raid gear i would trade for legendary if it had the right perks for pvp... N y not exsotic for legendary some legendarys are better then exotics the fact you can only weld one theres no point me trading an exotic helm for an exotic helm if i got an exotic chest piece but no rare for legendary or above that would ruin it. I dont see why people think it would ruin it solong as you cant give things away i have 4 last words and 2 ice breakers and i want them gone for more then 3 energys...

    • Just let me trade my stuff with someone the only rule I'd like to see is both traders have to agree to the trade before hand. That's all ya need.

      • I agree except the reset part, (why waste those shards?), but instead, have it so you can only trade once or twice per week and allow exotic to legendary trades. (Since for some people exotic and legendary are about equal due to the limit)

      • Trading will ruin this game. Grinding away for gear and materials is all this game has to offer prolonged playability. If you can just get all your things in trade you will be maxed out and have nothing to do. Why bother playing if you got nothing to achieve. Don't get me wrong. Grinding away is long and can get boring and tedious but I'm always looking forward to getting that something special. Yeah the game loves to troll you with crap drop rates and when you do finally get something like a legendary engram it gives you energy when you needed the armor but it's these highs and lows that make the game. The only thing I support trading of is resources like plates, essence, wire. Maybe even spin metal, relic iron, spirit bloom, and helium. Since these don't directly effect gameplay.

        • i like this system only thing i would change is raid gear. i dont think it anything that can only be obtained from raids should be tradable (i.e. mythoclast, aetheon's epilogue, helmets) this would insentivise ppl to still do the raids.

          • I agree with the trade system, but I don't agree that we should tell people what they can and can't say. If they flame... let them flame.

            • So basically you can trade with other players, but it must be of equal value otherwise you can't trade it.

              • No. Just no. Make 3 characters? Yes. Just yes.
Having 3 lvl 25+ characters allows you to perform the raids/strikes 3X more earning 3X more drops/earnings each week. Therefore allowing you to make multiple XUR purchases. Think about it.

Then you wouldn't care do much about breaking a non-broken game.
• I wish this post was a little more popular that way this idea can spread and everyone can come up with reasonable flaw that way the system I thought of can come close to perfection. The best out-come I can hope for is if Bungie themselves took notice of it and maybe decided to implement it since they liked it.

                • I already heard Bungie would be adding one in the future.

                • I have one Vanguard SR and my friend has another. They are the same rifle, but with different upgrades. I want his, he wants mine. Mine is maxed out since I actually use SR and it's the best one I have. His is almost fully upgraded, but not all the way. Because of this, if we traded through your system, I would essentially lose out on 18 Energy and get a different SR with no upgrades, making it useless until I can find replacement Energy because your trade system basically undid all my work with a gun. So what if people trade something with upgrades on it. I upgraded a bunch of Exotics, then when my Titan reached level 20, he jumped straight from 20 to 25, with 3 pieces of Exotic armor, and 3 different Exotic weapons, and Atheon's Epilogue. This is not much different than if I were to give my friend this stuff the way it is. Sure, I can see the whole Raid Gear thing where Raid gear =/= normal Purple gear, but how am I supposed to trade my hunter friend for his spare pair of gauntlets if I have yet to get a single piece of raid armor? He has no use for 2 pairs, and I need a pair and have beaten the raid just as much as him, but he can't trade it to me, so I'm still shit out of luck. This is why I don't like the sound of this trade system you have proposed. I can understand where you are coming from, but still, I just think a trade system should just allow for people to decide what's traded. Maybe, just maybe in terms of raid gear, a person must complete the raid before they can receive such stuff from another person, just to keep people from going from 20 to 30 instantly.
