My dad and I have just encountered this problem. We've been playing since launch and then all of the sudden we can't talk to each other for a week now.

One of the posts below suggested altering the NAT level and reconfiguring the ports on your internet router. It didn't work for me, but it's worth a shot. You can also try and reach out to bungie via their Twitter @BungieHelp. I haven't heard of anyone getting much luck with that though : /. Let us know if any of the methods in this forum thread work for you.
