DESTINY IS ONE OF THE WORST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED.

Here is a short conversation I had with a friend about the fatal flaws in this game. Mike: i wish some of the load times were better. tower to orbit to planet to orbit to tower is too much - can we go tower to orbit to planet to tower and skip the second orbit? Me: Agreed, all around I would give this game a 4-5 out of 10. Mike: but hey - i have other games, i don't need to nerd rage over this! hahaha, sorry destiny - you will probably not be played very long. Me: If they make us pay for an expansion so we can finish the story I am done with Bungie. Mike: oh you know that's exactly what's happening - this is the shooter version of WoW, only not as engrossing Me: Junk. I played this game for 2 weeks and I'm pretty much done with it now. Mike: i got more excited over the latest diablo 3 update and have been playing the shit out of that rather than destiny. i WANT to like destiny... i just don't love it. (and the d3 update was basically just to only have treasure goblins appear in pairs!) HAHA! Me: hahahaha. Yeah, not impressed at all. This game really reminds me of Mass Effect but without a good interesting story. Mike: HAHA! it is a lot like a basic mass effect tale! Me: It's like they tried to make it like Mass Effect. With all of the races and enemies and stuff but nothing got explained. just... The darkness is coming. Mike: not quite as catchy as "winter is coming" Me: yeah, winter is cold, AND DARK. Mike: yeah mass effect had the bonus of having encyclopedic level sized tomes of knowledge to back up all their characters and histories, great reads. destiny.... we get Dinklage... who sounds like he's reading his lines from an isolation chamber (no concept of what's going on!) Me: YEAH! ME 1-3 Such great games!!!! Mike: loved the ME series Me: Story is almost everything to me. Like a big movie that makes sense. Mike: same. it's why i'm always looking for a sprawling rpg Me: Finally went to the Bungie website and checked out my Grimoire cards. Uninteresting. I thought they would explain more of what is going on. Mike: that's disappointing. i haven't looked at mine yet. Me:This is there definition of a warlock. Warrior-scholars of the Light, Warlocks devote themselves to understanding the Traveler and its power. A Warlock's mind is an arsenal of deadly secrets, balanced between godhood and madness. On the battlefield, those secrets can shatter reality itself. How about where did they come from, what are they and all kinds of other interesting tales. You cant create a fantasy world without explainign how it all came to be. Mike: yeah and where did the robot and purpley glowy alien guys that we can play as come from.... i know NOTHING about the lore. humans i understand. we're from earth. the traveller is chillin beside earth. did people make the robots? hahaha i need robert stack to solve this unsolved mystery for me! Me: Were they shit from a black hole? This is all the info I get on the Awoken... It is said that the Awoken were born in the Collapse, descended from those who tried to flee its wrath. Something happened to them out on the edge of the deep black, and they were forever changed. On their website. They are fancily dodging serious questions. How about, why have all of these races come together to fight for earth????!!!! Mike: ermmm what's this collapse they mention that spawned the awoken? HAHAHA no shit! what do robots and purple alien dudes care about earth behold! we are bungie! prepare yourselves for we are about to speak words! words of no meaning, value or importance, even with visual aids! ENJOY MAGGOTS! even the sparse story in halo 1 made more sense Me: HAHAHAH! At least with exo's they explain that whoever built them was lost to time and they have no idea where they came from now. Built for a long-forgotten struggle, Exos are self-aware war machines so advanced that nothing short of a Ghost can understand their inner functions. They remain ciphers, even to themselves: their origins and purpose lost to time. Whoever built the Exos fashioned them in humanity's image, gifting them with diversity of mind and body. Many of the City's Exo citizens live and work alongside their organic brethren. But others fight again, re-forged in the Light of the Traveler to serve as Guardians. Mike: ok that's a pretty decent write up for the exo's.... one out of three ain't bad perhaps origins will be explained in future DLC... bleh Me: I have a question... Why were they re-forged in the Light of the Traveler to serve as Guardians!?? Mike: beats me. who re-forged them? Me: Who is the traveller? Mike: all i know about the traveller is that it takes up a great deal of the sky in my view from the tower. and that apparently it is too lazy to defend itself, which is why i'm playing the game in the first place. survival of the fittest says the traveller is done. let's step aside Me: HAHAHAHAH! Thats a good questions. Why should we care? Mike: from what i've gathered, if the traveller goes, the earth goes - probably due to proximity blast or something. we should just push it out of orbit and be done with it VICTORY TO HUMANS! Me: HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Everything changed with the coming of the Traveler. It gave us gifts that transformed the solar system and the nature of human life. It ushered in the Golden Age, a time of miracles. But it never shared its deepest secrets. Where did the Traveler come from? Why did it offer us so much? Did it know it was being hunted across the stars? And why, when the Darkness came, did it choose to stay and fight for us? Now the Traveler hangs, silent, above humanity's final sanctuary. It may be healing. It may be dying. It gave everything it had to save us. And now its power lies with us, its Guardians. "This is all the info from the bungie website on the traveller." Mike: it sounds like the writer got stoned at lunch, started writing, passed out, and then they took the unfinished work and slapped it together writer wakes up "where's my work?" - game's launched dude! oooohhhh sheeeiiit Me: How hard is it to just say the Traveller is like God and he gave life to all of our ghosts who then brought dead soldiers back to life. or something... Mike: they don't want religion comparisons? me: Then he is not god. He gave light to the ghosts and the ghosts brough back dead soldiers. Mike: so like reanimated corpses? good zombies? man they should have really hammered out this story a bit better Me: Maybe in the end we get to go inside the traveller to find out what the shit he is up tah. Mike: we've found some large holes and we're only scraping the surface me: Yeah, junk. Mike: i can't imagine the plot holes that would appear if i had actually paid attention during the story missions Me: They are obviously planning the expansion pack to be big. There are 4 more planets in the grimoire cards that aren't available yet. and 2 more races. Mike: damn and each pack will probably be around $15 at least - maybe $20..... this game is not going to be getting better EW! Me: There is a story section in the grimoire cards! Let me see if this explains anything! Mike: wait... what? i'm gonna have to see this for myself! Me: Ugh hahahahaha. First words are "You are a Guardian. You choose your own path." ... NO I DIDN'T I AM A -blam!-ING GUARDIAN!!!!! Mike: if they mean choose like - here's 5 battle options then yeah you totally choose Me: HAHAHAH OF -blam!- THIS IS GREAT!!!!!! And so you rise again. Who you were before or how you ended up at the wall of an Old Russian spaceport is a story for another time. You have been chosen by the Traveler as one of our Guardians, gifted with the power to wield its Light in the coming battles of a timeless war. Trust this Ghost. It will guide you on your path. A STORY FOR ANOTHER -blam!-ING TIME!!???? WHAT!!! Mike: as in "we don't have -blam!-s to give on this topic" Me: HAHAHAH! Unreal. Mike: i think i'm going to become a professional writer - apparently you don't have to write anything Me: Seems easy enough. Mike: now to just get attached to another $500 million activision project Me: They keep on talking about things as if we are suppose to know what they are. What the -blam!- is a Rasputin, Archon, House of Devils, Prime Servitor, and an NLS Drive? Mike: i think rasputin is on mars, an archon is some kind of baddie, those servitors are those stupid enemy balls, and i don't know about the nls drive or the house of devils Me: HAHAH nice work! You paid attention in school! The story in the gromoire cards is just those fancy little ramblings while traveling to a mission that make no sense. Mike: ugh so if you actually care to read the stuff you weren't listening to in the first place? ...PASS maybe if they expanded on it i'd be a little more interested Me: Yeah man, sad. The slogan for this game should be "Here's a game, -blam!- you and shoot things." Mike: HAHAHAHAHAH
