I'm sure we're all aware of Jupiter's existence in our Solar System, if not then you've been living under a Dwayne Johnson for god knows how long but anyways, I've always wonder at the idea of being able to visit the gas giant planet, Jupiter. Now it hasn't been proven whether or not Jupiter has a surface and its safe to assume that it doesn't, it will take a good while to find out if it does or not. But exploring Jupiter doesn't necessarily mean that there should be a surface, instead what I had in my head was making it sort of work like Star Wars and Cloud City. I'm sure we won't get any new planets in any of the expansions but its wishful thinking.

Okay, as I was looking into some info I heard on Jupiter having a hole in it in Destiny's lore for purposes to my story, I ran through some of this thread's comments and again I find it so amusing people don't question science at all. Now before I continue, I'm not saying Jupiter has a surface. But I am saying that people saying it doesn't jump to the conclusion too quickly. Have people not paid attention to the fact that the theory of plate tectonics and the layers to a planet are purely theoretical and not proven fact. Even Earth's proposed crust is extremely thick, and no one has been able to actually delve into the depths of the proposed layers underneath to determine whether or not they actually exist. Ha, they haven't even been able to explore the deepest parts of the crust. All of these people unquestionably jump to the defense of a claim that just cannot be proven irrefutably. There's no way to actually place an observer in such areas of a planet, so there's no definite explanation as to what the heart of planets are composed of. Same goes for planets like Jupiter. Just to play with the idea of it, for all we know, the gas planets' surfaces are concealed by extremely large, thick, powerful, and dangerous atmospheres primarily compounded by gaseous elements. All the observation tech out there studies it from outside the atmosphere, so who knows what's actually underneath. Anyway, not to drag this out unnecessarily, we simply don't know for sure. It's not like the astronomers and geologists have actually been to these planets and their depths themselves either. To say they undoubtedly know for sure what the planets are composed of is blatantly ridiculous. Again, I'm not saying there is a surface to the gas giants, but I'm proposing we don't dismiss the possibility so quickly. Open minds, people. Science isn't right about everything. The lines are constantly being blurred, shifted, and rewritten. On such an unfounded and rocky study, you have to take what they tell you with a grain of salt.

Your worried about jupiter being an explorable planet when we're currently doing strikes in venus which in reality is the real definition of global warming (it is hotter than mercury) and yet in destiny, theres a jungle and water in venus

*feel free to correct me* last time I heard ,Jupiter is a half formed star. Now by that we can assume there is no surface. If you disagree go to the nearest star(that would be our sun) and give it a big hug. On a serious note, there are mentions of Jupiter in grimore cards(dreams of alpha Lupi). But as we know grimore cards pack more story then a large portion of the campaign. So bear in mind these things, and remember, this is a 10 year game so they probably(maybe) have more content ready and hopefully add more lore into the game.

Jupiter has moons. Europa and titan gonna b good

Edited by Karzakal: 11/23/2014 12:45:26 PMJupiter is nice
-
I would lean more on having new planets in the sequels. Even then it is more likely that we will end up in one of Jupiter 's moons.
-
I always thought the Reef map suggested a long, tight orbit around a massive orb. In this case, it reminded me of, maybe, Europa orbiting Jupiter. I know it's not, but I can't help but think this may have been the case in an earlier design of the game.
-
Jupiter has moons though.

The Rock has an IQ over 160, using him as the definition of stupid in your example makes you stupid.

Edited by Azraels Sorrow: 11/22/2014 3:18:49 PMI want to go to Jupiter but maybe even more I would love Saturn. Also want to add if they make it possible to go to mercury. I don't see why Jupiter is out the question but I heard it would more likely be a moon of Jupiter
-
What destiny should add is aerial combat system and that could occur in those gaseous planets and make the game more fun
-
It's not as gassy as Uranus! Sorry..
-
Well seeing that Venus was terraformed and the moon has birds flying around, I'd say Jupiter getting some kind of transformation using The Travelers power or something like that isn't out of the question. Would be nice to have new planets and have the current planets a little more open to run around in.

What about Pluto?!?
-
The Grimore cards show Mercury, Saturn, and Jupiter.
-
mercury definetly making an appearance at some point, they already made a loading screen for the planet (coolest one btw) and i doubt they would do that for a single pvp map, especially not for the coolest and by the far, the most cool planet. I mean its half on fire half frozen and its vex-ified.

"if not then you've been living under a Dwayne Johnson for god knows how long" I think I can smell what the boulder is baking.
-
Xur is a "Jovian" which is a race like the awoken in that they were affected by the collapse, but they were affected more. Jovian is a word that refers to the gas giant planets, so ie Xur is from Jupiter or thereabouts. I think it will totally make an appearance
-
If i remember correctly, jupiter has an odd core made of some exotic form of hydrogen. It's under so much pressor that it turns into a liquid or something considered between a solid and liquid form. VERY cold. It would be a very cool to see these cities on it's moons as well, and maybe on the surface of the gas giant itself. After all, the idea of a floating city is not to far fetched when every other thing in the game seems to defy gravity.
-
It doesn't. Jupiter is a Gas Giant meaning there's no surface walking on that wouldn't instantly crush someone outside a large and well constructed object. It does have plenty of moons though and they are all unique and offer a wide variety of terrain and views of Jupiter from them.
-
. Now it hasn't been proven whether or not Jupiter has a surface and its safe to assume that it doesn't,
Stop jumping to unfounded conclusions, because it has been proven.
-
I was walking around the tower and one of the random NPCs said something to the effect of "Fighting has increased on Titan"
-
One of the grimiore cards talks about "legends of cites in ice" when referring to jupiters moons. So I think we'll for sure get to go there
-
Its the land of the exo's learned that from the grimore cards
-
"Living under a Dwayne Johnson" ..... I see what you did there. I believe that one of the moons will be added in an expansion or sequel.
