It's really sad how many of you out there think the game type CONTROL involves running around the map constantly trying to retake captured points. It really makes me wonder. Every time I see it I think about how one time I gave my dog three tennis balls and it wanted all three at once... It just didn't know its own limits.
The point of this game type is to capture and DEFEND as many points as you can with a team of six. Since there is no public chat teamwork can be a difficult thing with randoms so you may have to pay attention to your teammates for just a couple seconds to see what the best strategy might be. As in; if you see your entire team trying to hold A and B don't try and take the other point by yourself... Even if you manage to take it, you're going to flip the spawn and give them the chance to get a jump on the rest of your team.
Also don't forget that kills matter!! You can boost the points of your team by killing enemies but try to do it by either taking or defending a control point. Running to a moot area won't help your team as much as if you hold down B.
I'm just trying to help all you noobs out there. Try and use a bit if strategy when you play and it will pay off. Any other useful tips for control are more than welcome
Edit: a whole bunch of people are pointing out that you also need to kill people to win. I didn't really think that needed to be said since its so obvious but yea the determining factor of the game type is kills
Edit 2: the point system for control is 75 points for each flag cap, plus 75 additional points for every member in the control point. 25 points for neutralizing an enemy flag. 100 points for a standard kill plus an additional 50 for each flag held by your team on the kill
Edit:3 If the heavy ammo drops and you have friendly's in the area, wait a couple seconds for them to gather around (if you think it's safe to do so(don't wait too long)) to collect the ammo. More firepower on your team can help you take a flag or two and rack up some kills.

Destiny 2 does have an in-game chat just everybody prefers to go into their own private chat rather than using the chat provided by the game which would make it so much easier for everybody on a team to communicate and unlike private chat the in-game chat shows you who's talking

I'm sorry I suck so much.

Nobody tries to play the objective. In the rare case that they do, they play it wrong, going for the point that's farthest form the others, and attempting total control yet losing all of the points. On Maat Mons, C and B On Rusted Lands, A and B On Twilight Gap, A and C On Firebase Delphi, A and B It goes on, but strategically holding two points isn't that hard.
-
Control, I think you meant Team deathmatch with obstacles
-
Its sad how many scrubs go in control and just run around, you cant win without caputuring zones, the more zones the more points for kills. Grab 2 and defend its not rocket science here

Edited by Daveee x 17: 10/13/2014 11:46:55 PMDidnt see this post earlier so I made my own but same thoughts. I really hate it when random teammates try to take all 3. If you play this mode correctly like a domination gametype you should only focus on B and which ever other one is easier to hold (A or C) now obviously if the other team is complete crap then fine take all 3 but I would advise against that. It's such a simple common sense concept. You hold a 2:1 ratio and earn double the points to the other team to win the game.Basically you trap them at one spawn and lock them down instead of locking down all 3 points. To Mrbearhug winning on lockdown only happens when you play a team full of toddlers. Any decent team would capitalize on a greedy lockdown attempt. Edit : Hey dummies, stop going for A and C. Jesus why is this mode so hard to understand. Should be common sense on how to play. Grab B grab 1 of A or C and start killing people. So simple

I agree completely! When my brother and friend are on with me we will capture then defend and see which control everyone seems to be going for most and just defend it and that's how i get all my kills but it seems all everyone wants to do is run capture then run some more or the ever popular frak the objective entirely and just go for kills or camp to snipe head shots and screw the team over for the win.
-
Is it they don't know how to play or they just don't care. I had an exotic bounty and also had to get crucible marks but I hate crucible so I would either just sit there or try and get kills cause it's easier in control
-
I wish I had teammates like you, PvP isn't enjoyable when spawns are flipping every 2 minutes.
-
I dont really have a problem with PvP, easiest game in the world. No skill. No tactics. Just me and kills, this is the reason why i hate this game because its easy, one halo 2 is out ill be much more happier. But this game isnt for skill or fairness considering its based on PvP mostly.
-
Control is a terrible game mode and if your smart you wouldn't play it period.
-
Who cares if you win or lose or k/d ratio I am in it for the items!! No better feeling that seeing top player get nothing and last place get gg items!
-
Its domination out of cod and soemthing before that ... People will always run around and do their own thing, Only thing i try to do is control the area im in , if im at a base protect it ..if we have b then go protect that but within range of protecting a or c if someone tries swiping

Edited by XIII Doc IIIX: 10/15/2014 9:13:58 PMWhat you're saying is true to "win" the game. But the truth is there isnt any incentive to win or play as a team. I can run around randomly with my sniper rifle getting headshots and never cap a point, and have a great time. or defend points/capture points use shotties and fusions and enjoy myself the same. But in any game mode so far there is no reason to win, or even reason to touch the controller more than once every few minutes. I get the same RNG as i would either way. I even see people afk in crucible, get 0 kills 16 deaths and get an exotic engram while others go 22-1 carry the team to victory and be the ONLY person to not get a single item or even a fricken thank you because the thank you emote on the dpad was removed for "point" (thank you part is unconfirmed)
-
Come clean with me. Did you really give your dog 3 balls? Or are you just trying to make a point? Most players don't like sitting in one spot, so it makes sense they would ran around like chickens without heads back and forth. At least it's fun and you're not called out as campers and other not so nice words...
-
I've notice many players overlook the simple fact that your team gets more points for more people capturing an objective. 6 players gain the team 450 points for one point. Don't run off to the next objective while still capturing one. Also, if everyone moved as a team, controlling multiple objectives would be so much easier.
-
You're expecting children to be part of a TEAM Effort? All your points are right on the money, but having randoms or children on your TEAM is a hindrance in most cases.
-
And this is why I play rumble... Don't have to worry about teammates.
-
This. So much this.
-
Of amythimg you can get more points if you dont defend. Let the enemy nuetralize it. They get 25 points. Take it back before they capture it you get 75. Thats 50 points more per person.

Edited by Knite5hade: 10/14/2014 7:28:58 PMcommon example of blind watch... that match is so unbalanced its funny the team who hold C and B will most likely win cause of how easy it is to spawn trap at A and not to mention when u die at C or B u spawn like right on top of them... its a 1 sided map indeed but nobody understands like u said... "hey guys im going to go capture A"... cause team to spawn on A and loses C and B control.... enemy team comes back and wins... every1 reports that player for being unskilled lol
-
Some of us like to hold all points. Winning on a lock down is well worth a spawn flip and a challenge to kill 4 of 5 freshly placed enemies.
-
Most people would like to have control of all points though. 1. Finish matches quicker. 2. Complete Crucible bounties faster. 3. The good feeling of dominating the other team. 4. People are just having a good time so why ruin it
-
The point of control is you never take C, in almost every map C is the worst position as it leaves you out in egypt trying to take fortified zones. When some idiot on my team captures C, I just can't help but say gg its over we now spawn in egypt and they will easily take the other zones. Never take C people, and you will win every game.
-
You guys realize that you don't get points for holding an objective, right? You get points for kills that get a multiplier for ever zone held. Holding areas for the whole game doesn't mean anything if you aren't getting more kills than the enemy.
-
What do you expect when 90% of Destiny players only ever played kiddy hand hold COD?
