It's really sad how many of you out there think the game type CONTROL involves running around the map constantly trying to retake captured points. It really makes me wonder. Every time I see it I think about how one time I gave my dog three tennis balls and it wanted all three at once... It just didn't know its own limits.
The point of this game type is to capture and DEFEND as many points as you can with a team of six. Since there is no public chat teamwork can be a difficult thing with randoms so you may have to pay attention to your teammates for just a couple seconds to see what the best strategy might be. As in; if you see your entire team trying to hold A and B don't try and take the other point by yourself... Even if you manage to take it, you're going to flip the spawn and give them the chance to get a jump on the rest of your team.
Also don't forget that kills matter!! You can boost the points of your team by killing enemies but try to do it by either taking or defending a control point. Running to a moot area won't help your team as much as if you hold down B.
I'm just trying to help all you noobs out there. Try and use a bit if strategy when you play and it will pay off. Any other useful tips for control are more than welcome
Edit: a whole bunch of people are pointing out that you also need to kill people to win. I didn't really think that needed to be said since its so obvious but yea the determining factor of the game type is kills
Edit 2: the point system for control is 75 points for each flag cap, plus 75 additional points for every member in the control point. 25 points for neutralizing an enemy flag. 100 points for a standard kill plus an additional 50 for each flag held by your team on the kill
Edit:3 If the heavy ammo drops and you have friendly's in the area, wait a couple seconds for them to gather around (if you think it's safe to do so(don't wait too long)) to collect the ammo. More firepower on your team can help you take a flag or two and rack up some kills.

What do you expect when 90% of Destiny players only ever played kiddy hand hold COD?
-
99 percent of players, don't know how to play, period.
-
I hate IB because everyone plays it like ring around the rosey and like even in COD it was hold 2 point and win and the same as BF4 so why is it so hard just to lock down A and B and defend?
-
Every time I play control no one likes to hold down the area. Instead they like to run around like its tdm, an I don't think they know you cant win control like that.
-
Preach it
-
If everyone just tried hold 2 points and defending them, or even one, you'd win most of the time. Except nobody sticks together or EVER defends a point, they just run around trying to take every single point. It's annoying cuz I'd be rank 3 if I could just win half the games I play but I'm always the top scorer and stuck on the losing team.
-
Why dont you create a fireteam then, instead of mocking peoples' way of playing
-
Majority of cruible bounties require a certain amout of kills/ headshots. This requires camping. Control is the best gamemode to area control and spawn camp for easy kills in my opinion. As much as I hate PVP, this is my thinking when playing Control. With 10 minute rounds, control is more arcadish and less serious to play with

I have been thinking the exact same thing, well said
90% of players don't know how to play objective game modes in any shooter
Fixed

Hey edit your post and mention that if more players of your team capture a flag together the points add up so it's better to capture one by one instead of splitting up and trying to grab three and get 75 points each. When you can get 75x6 for playing as a team. Each flag
-
Don't care, need 500 points from void kills.
-
Kills are worth way too many points for control points to really matter. You can take one point, and just keep that one, and as long as you beat the other team in kills you'll still win. Especially since once they have the other two they'll all keep running directly at your control point.

Exactly. Take game spawn point, defend and take b...play skillfully and guaranteed win
-
People that scream over the mic at people they don't know telling them how to play a game is one of the reasons open communications were not set up in this game. If that's your tactical approach and it works, great. Create a clan and run it that way, build up your crucible rep., get new toys etc. but don't tell me how to play a game that I paid for.
-
My goal is to kill as many people as possible
-
One thing I do think -blam!-ing get is the map on Mars (not the huge one) where you're on top of a building. DO NOT TAKE POINT A. If ya do you spawn at A and it takes forever to get to b and c wich all has the best camping spots. I can't tell you how many times even holding b and c some idiot goes and caps a to hold all of em. Then the enemy starts spawning at c and it flips around. We keep a spawn at a and can't get our crap back and lose. Do not take a on that damn map just hold b and c!!!
-
agreed. Just lock down two of them and pinch them on the last one.
-
My favorite is when we have B and C on Blind Watch which is almost impossible to lose once you got them and some teammate decides to get A as well and we end up spawn flipping and losing the game.
-
Then youll be accused of being a "nooby camper shotgun whore" GG destiny community
-
Also killing people near control point is worth more, attacking or defending
-
I would stick around but everyone leaves the point and then 4 guys show up and I have no chance.
-
Well thank the lord above that you were here in all your glory to drop these pearls of wisdom on us...... seriously... you sould have a fan club /sarcasm off

I just get tired of people who stand NEXT to a point but not on it. Stand in the circle, it won't bite.
