"Earners" are the hipsters of Destiny.
It needed to be said, so I'll be the one to say it, cuz IDGAF what people think. All you people crying about how you "earned" your (Insert Exotic Here) from RNG as opposed to buying it from Xur, you're all nothing but hipsters. They might as well open up a Starbucks in the Tower for you to chat about how you got the Suros Regime first over Pumpkin Spice Lattes. The Speaker will start selling Hunter ascots, Titan skinny jeans and Warlock cardigans just for your uppity asses.
Gimme a f'king break. Nobody earns anything, it's all REWARDS. Know the difference.

I've played through countless matches and attained so many strange coins watching others down below in the scoreboard get it through RNG. After seeing it in Xur's inventory I nearly squealed in happiness. It's very much an opinion in what's considered "earning" through Destiny.

It should not be reward each weak but downgrade the drop chance and allow you to do it unlimited so the speed will mather...also just kill this -blam!-ing dumb xur selling the bests guns in the game....you dont have to earn it if you say 17-23 strange coin is alot than maybe they should had trade for noob like you so I can give you my 200 strange coins.... anyways this game was fun but way to short it seem like who choice this loot system was a casual player or just a persone who never played mmo rpg....everything in game is lame online strike are lvl 18-24 why the -blam!-??? should be -blam!-ing your lvl always not lower to stay actualy challanging also they could upgrade the drop rate of those.... atm raid is the only fun thing in the game but it represent like 1.5% of the whole game space wich make no sense.... also limit hardcore player with weekly stuff there should be some quest lvl 32 so we can have fun just like the first week doing the lvl 28 strike at lvl 25......anyway im done noob like you will always cry for free thing they didnt had to play for...

I'll be honest: I got most of my exotics through the bounties and I feel good when I complete them. Is it because I feel like I earned it? No.... I just love the challenge of doing something that gets progressively harder, the exotic is just a reward from my perspective. I honestly don't give two (censord) on how someone got it. You bought the exotic from my bounty? Good for you. Yes I'll say I did the bounty if you ask me, why would I hide that? Anyway not sure if this comment applies to me or not but I think, from my personal view, anyone who boasts for gaining something from a bounty and looks down on those who haven't are just as bad as the people that take offense to it... It's a game... an always online game.... if you can't deal with this kind of people and post something to make a point because you take offense at what they said (and to leave this post you must have), then you are just giving them more attention in the end. I understand where you're coming from but posting it on the forums like this doesn't help.

Last I checked I earned the coins and other items I used to purchase the stuff so there for it is earned. Just because I didn't get lucky and get mine from a nightfall strike or the glass doesn't mean anything. I want to do the glass but getting enough friends together and on with enough time to do it is hard.

I'd like to say that no matter what you do you are always earning gear in destiny. You still have to work and play the game in order to get stuff. It's not just handed to you on the end.

I take the gear any and every way it is available to be taken, and since rng doesnt like me much (raid completed several times, got 2x boots and shards every time) most of my exotics are from xur and bounties

Honestly luck plays a factor in pretty much all of this so "earning" isn't really a good term to describe it. Buying it using strange coins you earned is more earning it than anything else. In the end this argument just reflects the terrible loot system Bungie has in place so this really isn't an topic worth arguing about.

4 RepliesMy good Buddy is a total PVP mongoloid. He swears, he screams and he kicks his toys out of the pram. So when he got the THORN bounty I laughed my head off. He is still only halfway through the crucible portion of the bounty, as his deaths keep shorting his progress. I think it would be fair to say that at the end of this - should that happen, he would have the absolute right to say he "Earned" it. Funny stuff though. The things people find to rage over...

What about Exotic Weapon Bounties? I believe someone my be entitled to say they earned that Exotic. Of course the receiving of the Bounty is random, though. Anyway, funny thread.

You know? I really don't mind if others buy from Xur. I've earned most of my things thru marks and what you call rewards (which is actually what they're called, lol) but have not ever felt high and mighty because I got something special and nobody else has it. I don't mind Xur selling these items because it gives everyone a chance to enjoy the things that are generally harder to get. Sure, some of the Exotic bounties take a while or are challenging, and the weekly & daily rewards for certain missions or strikes can be hard to do. They can give one a sense of achievement and I can respect how a few may feel "gypped" (did I spell that right?) but I try to stay on the fence about things people have issues with. I don't like to be biased. I spend hours all day everyday playing Destiny so maybe since I have plenty of time to earn those things, it doesn't bother me to see others enjoying them as well. I play to have fun and that's what I do. Have a great day!

love it, I have never seen a problem with xur or any of it. I would like "exotics" to be harder to obtain in general. other than that I'm all good. oh I'd love hard mode raid to drop better gear as well.
