And so my days of Destiny are becoming shorter.

I already explained how disappointing the game is, so I'm not going to reiterate myself. But now, I am not playing Destiny because I am having fun, I play it because I truly hope bungie will make it better. But so far, I don't know what is happening with the company I loved. They seem to have lost their creative direction. Very poor decisions were made and there was a lack of clear communication during the players and the company. It's hard to see such a jarring shift between halo's epicness and Destiny's mediocrity. I have not beaten the raid yet, I almost did. But even if I did, what's the point? To get better armor? For what, crucible, where kills depend on lag rather than equipment and skill? And from what I keep hearing, the story was originally going to be much much different....much cooler. But that was cut because it was too good. What happened to you guys? I mean...you have to be asking yourselves "what the -blam!- have we done with this game...." right? Or do you only care about squeezing as many pennies out of us as you can at the cost of producing quality games? I can't do it anymore. I can't handle the deception, the misleading promises, the nerfed content...Destiny feels like a free-to-play game. It's incomplete....until we purchased the dlc. If you cared about giving the players what they deserve, you would make ALL of that DLC free. No this is not satire, it is not a troll. We deserve the rest of the game. If you truly love your community, you would twist activision's arms until they broke and let you give us our game. You would also beg Marty and Joe Staten to return and fire the asshole who came up with the grimoire system. Hire more writers, perhaps some of us in the community could take over. I'm being serious, There are those of us who are brimming with ideas for story direction. I don't know what sort of drama is happening at Bungie studios, but get your shit together. I will continue to be a loyal bungie fan.....But Destiny is losing me. I am at the point where I often ask myself "why am I playing this?!?" The next step is to set it aside and wait for the day you finally get your shit together. EDIT: To clarify, I am not going to be leaving the forums. I love this community. So for those of you who dislike my presence, tough.

*fistbump* Yeah, it's a shame, right? Mine are shortening too. In fact, after I close this tab, I think I'm done with checking the site for hope every day. I'm trying for a 'No Outrage October' at the moment, so taking a philosophical look at it... I hit Destiny pretty hard the first couple weeks. Got a lot of fun playtime out of it. Then a lot of frustrating grind. Then I realized that I didn't actually have to grind and could just do the raid with my mates and that's really all that's of interest anymore... And sure, I was visiting the forum and website multiple times a day, desperately looking for some sign that the fixes were coming, that the problems were going to be solved, that maybe the story might get un--blam!-ed into something compelling... well. Now it's time to hang that up too, and just give it til the DLC drops or something. Maybe they'll run another event or two in-between, giving us re-skinned missions for some new faction or old faction or whatever recycled mission helps the willing think there's something new to do. Who knows. Who cares? There'll be Shadow of Mordor, Alien: Isolation, Sleeping Dogs and GTA 5 remasters, Borderlands, Evil Within, Lords of the Fallen, Dark Souls DLC, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Warlords of Draenor, the new Revan expansion for SWTOR, Assassin's Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, Witcher 3, The Division, Dying Light, Evolve, Bloodborne, Mass Effect 4, Mirror's Edge 2, Final Fantasy 15... Man, it is about to RAIN gaming greatness every month this next year, and you'll forget Destiny was ever a thing. In some ways, that's sad... it had the potential to be a place you'd wanna damn near live, something living and evolving and immersive... But it didn't meet that potential. It's kind of like any relationship that fails. Best thing to do is move on. Props to the Guardians who stick around and try to make this shambles of a relationship work, but you'll probably be happier if you go on a break and give the relationship some space. Some distance away to see if you're not just caught up in what you were hoping for, or if you actually want to go back to what's actually here, now that all the flaws are known.

    • Bee Errors, Joseph and Marty gone, cut content, lack of story, the list goes on and on. I can't even play the Crucible, a major part of the game, all because of Bungie's shart servers! Bungie lost its mojo and I blame Activision!

Enough with these complaints! It is a Demo for crying out loud.... just wait until the game actually comes out, it will be one of the best games this generation.

        • What would make the game better?...... The communities listed shit load of ideas, and all great ideas are nullified. Creative ideas....I had a dope ass idea for a create your own strike playlist...where there's a strike editor like forge with so much more capacity to do things in it. Even having a complete compilation of dinklages ghost lines to make a" themed" strike, tons of modifiers you name it.
I would have made a dark maze strike where the boss at the end is a suped up thrall that chases you down with enhanced speed and beefier. Of course, I'd add some other cool stuff, but just giving a basic idea
Each month at the end, users vote for their favorite user made strike. Once there is a top 10, one last vote is made and the winners get their map put into a set playlist of user made content we choose from rather than randomly entering a random strike. Weekly update would reward the creator(s) and be appreciated. NULLIFIED ......this SLITS the wrist of dlc. ....we will never see such a creative outlet in Destiny... I anticipated this game to have so many levels of customization.... I would have loved to take a scope off of one gun and attach it to another...or take a perk from one and modify another (without being as overkill as some exotics) etc. NULLIFIED - this takes away from guns in dlc. .... Some of You guys have had badass ideas gone completely ignored...Fan fiction before the game released that was better than the launch story... I normally play games for the MP. I'm not a big fan of the crucible though cause it's designed to be unbalanced. It won't ever reach a perfect balanced state which was known pretty far back before release. So it won't ever be the kind if MP I favor. But pve......story..,content... Seriously....the community will create that shit for free and take a crappy emblem no one cares about for the reward. The recognition for your work on the forums from other users would be enough for them. This was my first time ever being in a midnight release line. First time pre ordering the most expensive version, and even upgrading for a game...to a whole different community (Xbox 360 to ps4) ... I won't ever do that again for a new game until I've seen what users have to say now. If I known all this before I would have just gotten the basic 360 version. Can't change what's been done tho, I at least spent a good amount of time on the game. I obviously am a fan of bungies earlier work. It was easy for us to fall into the hype. The live action commercial was one of the best advertisements I've ever seen for a game. I'd be so down for a tv show and watch that over playing destiny (supposing there's a whole lot more story)

"shift between halo's epicness and Destiny's mediocrity" Soooo much this. Certainly there had to be people at Bungie who finished the game and were like the rest of us: "Uh, that's it? Where is the story?"

          • I am not going to participate in a cycle of grind more to get more to grind more. This game earned all of its reviews. It feels like Bungie is saving something for later when they should have been laying foundation. They sold us what amounts to, in optimistic terms, breaking the ground and their promise that there will be foundation. I'll keep playing, but more out of a lack of compelling alternative than any ventured faith in Bungie or Destiny. If I hadn't played Warframe to death already, I'd have traded this in on day 3 and bailed.

            • I don't understand why you or anyone complains about the perceived lack of purpose in raiding or doing the extra content. In Halo and most shooters, there's way less. In fact, there's usually no reward at all for beating Halo on legendary. You get nothing. I think it's awesome that we get loot which we can then carry into PVP.

            • Just had a group of friends bail on this game. It's a real shame. They thought it was too boring because it was so hard to find a group and be able to play/communicate with them. Personally, I won't be around much longer either unless we get a better game chat function.

              • its a disappointing game and my most disappointing game since Alan Wake (yeah imagine that...) BUT they did not fail in the most important part, which is gunplay. Because of the reason i have a little hope but then i remember that their published is the motherf*cking Activision and hope vanishes.................

              • I'm honestly disappointed with this game in so many ways, but I have a lot of hope for it. It's a great framework and will be much better in the long run that right now. I think of this (and Halo 4) as a blip on the radar.

                • To be honest, the game was made for the community. They will fix things, update things, and change things. The game is still relatively new and they do a pretty good job of informing the community of the updates. They can't do this stuff overnight. Even in the interviews, they stated that the game was meant to form a COMMUNITY of gamers that meet and fight TOGETHER. I love the community and if I played alone I would probably hate the game. However, I am proactive in getting a fire team together and enjoying the raids, strikes, crucible, and just messing around on patrol together.

                • Longface, you said pretty much everything I have been feeling. I have been the most avid Bungie fan for years. I LOVED Halo. I'm not here to argue the merits of Halo but I think it was fantastic. The universe was compelling and the game play somewhat revolutionary (you have to remember to view games in the context of the time and system they were originally released for). More than just the games themselves, the company culture impressed me (as revealed through vidocs and the like). An aspiring computer programmer at the time (and a web developer now) Bungie was the company I most wanted to work for. It sounds silly to say it in these terms, but I had a sort of faith in Bungie. And now that faith is somewhat shaken. Clearly the game is not what was advertised/anticipated by the community. The game engine is impressive enough, but the experience is still found wanting. I think the game would have been adequate from a new developer; but the fact of the matter is I think we all expected (and felt like we were promised) MORE from Bungie. I have feeling that a lot of the opposition to critiques of the game (read: "fanboys who flame anything negative said about the game") simply aren't thinking critically. I HAVE beaten the Vault, and it was a lot of fun. But more and more I think to myself, "what am I supposed to be doing with this game." I still enjoy it, but I'm running out of gas. More than that, I don't feel like I got the depth of rich game play I was expecting in the first place. And I come onto these forums and read the news waiting for Bungie to say SOMETHING that is going to work towards fixing the damage they've done to the trust of their fan base. Because the game is clearly lacking, and it is CLEARLY not the game they intended to make. You don't hire that level of voice talent to fill the roles they have now. I didn't even realize that Nathan Fillion was the voice of Cayde until a few days ago (when I ran the second mars strike for the Nth time...) and I am a -BLAM-ing HUNTER! And I love him as an actor! He just doesn't say enough. But Bungie hasn't done anything to restore my faith. Most of what they release into the internets amounts to a wall of silence with the asterisk "we're listening." For me, they need to own up to the fact they goofed up and say how they are going to fix it instead of IMPLYING that assertions made by the infamous Reddit AMA are false. And I say 'implying' because if you read carefully DeeJ's response to the original thread and everything since, he's careful not to actually label the AMA as a fraud. (He says "don't get trolled internets" not "you ARE being trolled". The semantical distinction is small but important.) I too would suggest making the first DLC free, but honestly I am not sure they have until December to start to make amends. I will be back probably (note, not 'still here'), but I think a lot of the community will be lost at that point. They need to make progress NOW, and these Queen events and the Iron Banner just AREN'T GOING TO CUT IT. Frankly they are a massive letdown. Just more of what we already had, re-branded under a different name. I still want to believe in Bungie! But they need to do something dramatic. And they need to do it NOW. They're current PR approach of "we're listening. Stuff will happen someday" isn't doing it for me. The lack [complete absence ?] of MEANINGFUL communication with their fan base feels like a betrayal. But I thank you Longface, for speaking up. The fact of the matter is, your post will gather some attention, and maybe carry some weight. And please, fellow guardians, before you faithfully uphold the fanboy/company mantra: pull your heads out of the sand, think critically and ask yourselves, is this game REALLY everything you hoped it would be?

I wish they would acknowledge how we feel and not pussyfoot around the subject with these grindfests for shiny (bad) gear. I've been playing for awhile now and it's really lost its luster I'm pretty sure I'll quit after the raid. Id sooner not play PS3 then buy the DLC for this, sorrynotsorry
