And so my days of Destiny are becoming shorter.

I already explained how disappointing the game is, so I'm not going to reiterate myself. But now, I am not playing Destiny because I am having fun, I play it because I truly hope bungie will make it better. But so far, I don't know what is happening with the company I loved. They seem to have lost their creative direction. Very poor decisions were made and there was a lack of clear communication during the players and the company. It's hard to see such a jarring shift between halo's epicness and Destiny's mediocrity. I have not beaten the raid yet, I almost did. But even if I did, what's the point? To get better armor? For what, crucible, where kills depend on lag rather than equipment and skill? And from what I keep hearing, the story was originally going to be much much different....much cooler. But that was cut because it was too good. What happened to you guys? I mean...you have to be asking yourselves "what the -blam!- have we done with this game...." right? Or do you only care about squeezing as many pennies out of us as you can at the cost of producing quality games? I can't do it anymore. I can't handle the deception, the misleading promises, the nerfed content...Destiny feels like a free-to-play game. It's incomplete....until we purchased the dlc. If you cared about giving the players what they deserve, you would make ALL of that DLC free. No this is not satire, it is not a troll. We deserve the rest of the game. If you truly love your community, you would twist activision's arms until they broke and let you give us our game. You would also beg Marty and Joe Staten to return and fire the asshole who came up with the grimoire system. Hire more writers, perhaps some of us in the community could take over. I'm being serious, There are those of us who are brimming with ideas for story direction. I don't know what sort of drama is happening at Bungie studios, but get your shit together. I will continue to be a loyal bungie fan.....But Destiny is losing me. I am at the point where I often ask myself "why am I playing this?!?" The next step is to set it aside and wait for the day you finally get your shit together. EDIT: To clarify, I am not going to be leaving the forums. I love this community. So for those of you who dislike my presence, tough.

    • Don't get me wrong, I've had a blast with this game Bungie. I genuinely fear for it's longevity though. I'm lv.27 now, and I imagine by the time the dlc's come out this december I'll be lv.30 or damn close to it. So what then? I've hit lv.30, gotten the gear I want then... what? There is no element of exploration beyond the first time you do each mission, and even then with the sordid writing, lack of interactivity with other characters, and endlessly regenerating mobs, I'm not seeing much replayability once I hit the lv cap. Sure, I definitely appreciate the challenge of the end game content and how tactical things become once you have to start working with your fireteam. But it probably isn't until lv.26 that sort of gameplay even becomes apparent. And even if the lv. cap gets raised beyond lv.30 in the future, what then? Why should I care if I know its just going to b the same grind? The ultimate problem here is that Destiny, as a game, really has no goal for its players. You get to lv.30 and that's it. Beyond getting a greater variety of gear to create different builds, there isn't anything really worth it in the game to bother doing that. The object is to get stronger, but there is no ulterior reason to become stronger except in order to kick stronger alien ass until the aliens just stop getting stronger because they no longer can. There is no survival element, no real danger, and no reason to care about the world, environment, or how it effects ourselves or the friends we fight alongside. Getting stronger loses its meaning when there is nothing left worth fighting for. Unless Bungie pulls off something amazing in the next few months, this game is gonna fizzle out. Sure, I'll play til the lv. cap, I'll even help my friends hit the cap so we can all be space badasses together... and then there will be nothing left to do except put down the controller and wait for the game to either die or witness whatever miracle Bungie manages to pull from the mire of a game that should have been so much more.

The length that people go through to defend this game is ridiculous to me. "The story is bad because it's an MMO" (completely ignores the amount of lore and story in other MMO's) "The game isn't an MMO, that's why the classes don't have specific uses" "PvP is bad because the game is PvE based" "The point of getting better gear is to beat others in Iron Banner" "Iron Banner has level advantages, so better gear and skill (lol) will win there" "Iron Banner level advantages only apply to weapon damage ratings, not your level or your armor rating" "Stop bashing the game for lack of content, it's only a week old. Wait for Queen's Wrath" "Stop bashing the game for lack of content, it's only 3 weeks old. Wait for Iron Banner" Stop bashing the game for lack of content, it's only one month old. Wait for the next event" "The areas you can glitch into are unfinished because they don't have enemies, even though the maps are" "Just because King's Watch has enemies doesn't mean it's finished"

      • You're absolutely right. I'm only hanging around because there's no other games to play right now. I'm honestly thinking about just giving up on Destiny until it's released on PC and/or all of the DLC is released. I just feel like I'm playing a hollow game at the moment.

      • why keep playing? maybe put the game down for a while, if you have hopes that you might like it later? theres really no point in complaining about it on the bungie forums. sorry if thats not what you want to hear, but it doesnt sound like you really want to play the game, so dont, and dont complain about it on the forum, your just wasting more of your time. if you hope the game will get better, keep it. if you feel that you are completely done with the game, get rid of it. no sense in being on the forums whining, its not going to change anything and your wasting your time, and taking up space on the front page.

        • Missed opportunity. Bungie should have crowdfunded this one, riding high on the coattails of Reach which was a near-perfect Halo game (MP). I blame Activision for a lot of the crap you mention.

                • I completely get what you're saying, I enjoy the game but I find myself playing less and less. I don't have a reason to keep coming back everyday. I was on the grind to level 30 and then I suddenly asked myself 'why?' and I couldn't answer my own question. I don't have to be level 30 to play with my small band of brothers and so grinding for loot and materials has become unnecessary. I think we need some standout characters and to make the experience feel a bit more rich. As an intro to a universe I found it clunky, I can't explain the story in a compelling way and I would be hard pressed to tell you the name of more than two characters. I have no connection to my character and only a passing relationship with my ghost. The two teams of Guardians in the commercials/adverts on the web have more personality in them than any characters in the game. And where are the cutscenes? I would have thought you would get a cool one for beating the raid but nothing, like so many accomplishments in this game achieving something of worth goes by with little fanfare. I didn't even realise I had finished the story initially... People will be leaving everyday and we need some changes to get them to hold onto their copy. At least with the next raid end on a cutscenes that shows each 2 versions of each class being pure awesomeness. I love this game, I think that in a years time it's going to be much more exciting but I wonder who will be left to see if the destiny we want will become a reality?

I agree completely, finished the raid yesterday and now I don't know what to do besides crucible, only reason im not returning it is because I want to see improvement. That and I would probably have dinklebot hack the employee to give me a decent amount of money back while I defend him against hordes of other customers.

                      • I honestly don't see how people can legitimately defend this. Honestly all the arguments that have are just grasping at straws. Bungie has been making this game since before halo ODST came out. Since this is true, how can the game be so small? Every boss in the game is literally a larger version of another mob. There is little to no story. All the missions are basically side quests where you protect your ghost while it hacks. Any area worth looking at is in the "story" Honestly if they were trying to make an open world game, they did a pretty bad job.

I actually agree with Longface.. This game isn't complete. I understand that "this is a ten year game la di da" But honestly admit to yourself that it is missing that something that makes it feel.. well.. Complete I love it nonetheless but I don't believe that DLC should be the avenue to obtain the rest of the content. DLC is in most cases, extra content that adds to the already full game so without it there won't be any impact on the game from beginning to end if you choose not to buy in. I do feel this game is complete-ish enough for me to enjoy it but I say to myself at least once a day "why do I play this still?". Hopefully that feeling doesn't evolve into "I'm done now". Now load your fusion rifles and take your shots at me. Lol
