Honestly probably the best thing I've read on here, got my vote. Everyone is pissed that the hype was wrong and false advertising. My view is that the hype wasn't wrong, bungie was ecstatic about this game, and we all agree if the game was anything like the vidocs it'd be way better. Well my friends the vidocs is what generated all the hype, so no it wasn't false advertising, it was activision gutting all the good stuff out leaving bungie to take the blame while they make millions. I'll defend bungie until I have a real reason not to. Activision is the real villain.

  • Activision are the publisher. They provide the funding for the game to be made and they have a heavy influence in when the game gets released. HOWEVER, Bungie are also at fault imo. They must have known how badly people would react a couple of weeks into launch after everyone had completed the story and strikes and bounties etc. Someone at Bungie I'm guessing had to make the decision in saying that the game was ready when it clearly wasn't. Whomever that person was made a poor decision. But I'd put money on them being pressured into the decision by Activision.

  • I understand they are the publisher, but activision are the ones that made them launch the game even though it was unfinished in certain aspects (which I have faith they will fix once all the gameplay issues are sorted out, and they're making good progress considering with these next gen consoles that run entirely different code than the last gen consoles, part of the reason they're not backwards compatible, makes creating patches that much more difficult). They will improve this game bungie has all their eggs in this basket and it's not like them to fail, they practically created FPS games and people think they won't pull through, after only 4 weeks. I understand why everyone is upset I've found myself getting frustrated with things too, but it's a great game with even greater potential. Have some faith people.

  • Woah. Bungie DID NOT practically create fps games. They have been innovative and genre-shaping, but any of their devs would be the first to point back... and probably to id.

  • They did greatly revolutionize them. Halo basically did create the regenerating health system that nearly every single FPS in existence uses today. Started with the elinination of health packs in halo 2. Then COD 2 and gears followed. Now everyone uses it.

  • Yup. Innovative and genre-shaping. Not genre-creating, and their games came after the mainstream breakthrough for the genre as well. Bungie has done some great things, but very few companies deserve that kind of cred. Although I hate regenerating health, especially out of the context of a futuristic game.

  • I agree.. it makes no sense that I can eat 1000 bullets as long as I duck behind a wall every few bullets.. and thats in a "realistic" modern fps! This is part of why I'm turned off to most modern fps's. I liked how on TLOU you had to actively create bandanges and apply them to yourself. Medpacks all the way.
