Exotic weapon bounties and non-pvp players

There are bounties for everyone. Lots of them for every type of player. Lots of choices, no matter what your preferences are. You work your way through them, day in day out and sooner or later the unthinkable happens: You get to pick an exotic weapon bounty Happy Day! Or is it ? We have PvE bounties and we have PvP bounties, nicely seperated for each type of player. We have the Queen's Wrath bounties which includes both but still seperates them (no mixed bags either). And then, the most coveted prize of all bounties ...... they are heavily weighted towards pvp players. The non-pvp parts are almost trivial grinds but for ppl like myself who simply do not like pvp (and suck at it as a consequence) this is very frustrating. Getting TWO exotic weapon bounties and being forced to pvp (and be somewhat successfull at it, too) is simply unfair. These steps should include choices for pvp and non-pvp. Either kill 100 guardians with void damage or (for example) track down and kill 10 named Majors/Ultras. You get the idea. It needs to be balanced but there HAS to be a choice. I am sitting on my 2 bounties, being kind of frustrated and quite disappointed because I have to do something I do not like to do. Something I know will frustrate me to no end and something I will have to do for days if I want to have even a remote chance of completing it. To top it all off, it would seem as if the only way to go about it is to shotgun my way through it. Shotgun ..... the one guntype I dispise the most. I kept 2 simply because they are purple but never used them. My favorite gun type (hand cannon) is said to be useless in pvp and primaries do not even have elemental damage to begin with. So to stand a fighting chance, I being a pure pve player, would have to use a void sniper to get a gazillion kills and then some assuming I can somehow manage to stay above a 1.0 k/d ratio to advance my scores. This is not right. If exotic weapon bounties are meant for pvp players only then make it clear and I will not complain. They are not for me then. But as it stands, exotic weapon bounties are simply unfair for non-pvp players. I looked them up after I was given the pvp task by Ikora and they ALL require a lot of pvp. I would like to see this changed and choice being added. Maybe not even choice but diffrent ways to fulfill a requirement. Instead of "kill xxx guardians with void damage" make it "cause a total of xxxxxxxxxxxx voide damage with weapons to your enemies". Something along those lines. So you would be flexible but cannot abuse supers for example. After all, for pvp bounties we have 6 purely pvp centered ones every day. Make the exotic ones so that they work for both kinds of players and can be done by pvp AND/OR pve. Thanks for reading. Comments are welcome, of course.

  • While I do understand your plight. I personally believe that all the pvp aspect are not as difficult as people make then out to be. Tedious, yes, but no more than the pve parts. Thorn which is the one you seem to be working on is fairly easy, however as you are hunter I can see the problem. Defenders and void walkers have other sources of void damage. I would recommend staying away from crucible until you acquire a void fusion rifle. Which you should keep around for those strikes with void burn anyway, though that is most likely the reason you have the sniper. However, a sniper is extremely affective on a few of the maps. I would not say I am a primarily PvP person, though that is one of my favorite aspects of the game. However, I believe the reason for the added PvP in the bounties is because of the nature of the bounty system. If it was all pve, that would be too easy. As it is most exotic bounties are not that difficult to accomplish, just a little tedious. I feel the crucible is a integrated part if the game. Rewards you earn there can be transfered to pve and rewards from pve can be transfered to the crucible. So we can assume that bungie intended for players to dabble in both, obviously spending more time in their preffered area. I understand that most people feel the PvP arena is brutally unbalanced, however I feel that it isn't. It did take me a few days to get bad juju. Due to the 25 strikes part, which I hated and decided that I would only do a few a day. Thorn requires 500 points with void damage. 5 per kill, -2 per death. As lack luster as the weapon is, I feel they should remove the penalty. However, it is attainable just stay about .5 k/d. I personally think that adding the option to do things in pve instead if PvP should not be added. As it would be unfair to the other side. I had to endure 25 strikes, a mind numbing experience. I would have gladly played 500 PvP matches instead. I believe the bounties are there to pull people out of their comfort zone and have them attempt new things. Plus there is all the back story to the bounties and what not.
