The whole Guardians in crucible idea is idiotic to start with. Story wise, why are Guardians killing each other instead of Fallen, Vex, Hive and Cabal? I don't see why all these games need people to kick the living s***t out of each other in order to succeed as a game. The game is supposed to be socially based not anti social, PVP could arguably be classed as anti social, it encourages the type of behaviour the draconian chat system is in place to stop, you know? All that trash talk you hear so often, things like I nuked your ass you f**ker. The game should reflect both types of player, not just some egocentric (alpha male wannabe) PVP players. Note: I said some PVP players.

  • I believe it is a war game scenario. As guardians can be revived infinitely as long as they can be reach by the Traveler's light. If I read correctly the crucible was reinstated at the behest of the Future War Cult under the guise of preparation for the coming End Times. When the last light will be besiged on all sides by the Darkness. Think of it this way. Guardians are the best combatants in this current universe, slaying thousands of fallen, hive, vex and cabal without breaking a sweat. So once you are the top and you have plateaued what then? Well you test and train with your fellow guardians. We could argue that deaths in the crucible are not real deaths, golden age science and what not, or we could say that the ghost are reviving you. Makes no real difference. As for the crucible being anti social. I don't think so. Most of the time you have to work as a team to succeed. With the lack of proximity chat/team chat. It is a tad harder but still possible. I enjoy the story behind the crucible and am extremely glad that bungie prevented proximity chat. Last thing I want to hear is some kid calling me a scrub, noon/nub or what not.

  • Your last paragraph is what I was referring to with my anti social remark. The rest of what you say has reason behind it, and I'll respect that. We all play the game from different viewpoints. Some only play for PVP and some PVE, I just can't understand why both sides can't be catered for equally, from reading the reports before launch I was thinking, at last an online game that caters for both sides equally. Sadly that hasn't been the case. PVP and PVE should have their own setup, with their own Factions, sets of weapons and armour. Why not six character slots with three for PVP and three for PVE. The perfect game should let the player decide which way they want to play it. Both sides are playing the game there's no need to force you into PVP in order to get gear, just make it hard either way. That's what the OP was saying.

  • I understand, but the opposite is also true a PvP player gets force to run strikes, get kills in nightfall, etc, etc. In addition best gear can only be gained via the PvE aspect. You will never get to 30 via PvP. I suppose that you can view trash talk as an it social, but I have has some productive conversation during a PvP match in the past. However, those are few and far between. The current state of destiny doesn't allow for much on either side, as much as the crucible entertains me, the same maps over and over can become frustrating. I can see where the PvE players are coming from and understand the problem. PvP can be a daunting endeavor, with little to no reward. However, those that do both are rewarded more than those that do only a single aspect. We can see it in the separate marks, vanguard for PvE and crucible for PvP. Every week you can only earn 100 of each. So a player that maxes both will have twice as many marks to spend as oppose to a single aspect player. Perhaps it was intentionally done that way. Who know perhaps when the iron banner begins all the hardcore PvP people will get roflstomped by all the elite PvE players.

  • I assume we're not killing eachother since a Guardian could be revived upon death anyway, providing he has his ghost and still has light within him. The Cruicible could be thought of as training and who better to be pitted against than a fellow warrio of light, who is as tenacious and resourceful as you are? Your enemies are predictable, Guardians are not. They represent a challenge and it could be a grand way for the factions to recruit civilians? Besides there is no more a dangerous being than Man. Always willing to go that extra mile, always willing to make that push and reach for the sky.

  • i bet you 1000 glimmer that guardians are just as predictable as fallen or hive thrall. take a pedestal, put a big, shiny exotic on it. above it put a biiig sign that says "deadly trap" and install a deadly trap that instantly kills anyone who touches it. now send a message with the location of our trap to every guardian and walk away. we come back one day later to admire the mountain of guardian corpses still piling up while a swarm of ghosts frantically attempts to revive them. doubts? thought so.....

  • I doubt that. Hilarious, but highly unlikely. Within a vacumn and with no variables perhaps that would achieve the expected result. However, after the first death and revival plotting would happen and things would change. Once you know you enemy you begin to devise a way to defeat them. Once the trap is understood it can be disarmed and thus defeated. People are stupid yes, but individuals are supremely intelligent.

  • I like to believe if it's too good to be true it is. Good way of weeding out the idiots though.
