Which Primary Weapon Do You Use?

Auto Rifle

Pulse Rifle

Hi all, Which primary weapon do you primarily use; and why? I am debating which primary should I use and I would very much like some of your opinions and suggestions to help me to decide. I very much like the scout rifle for it has good impact, which interrupts the targets, and good damage. Also I always aim for a head shot (or a belly shot against the Vex). So I have grown fond of the scout rifle since I started playing. I also like the hand cannon too; except for its relatively small cartridge size painfully long reloading speed. I have tried to really like it and use it but I have always ended falling back to the scout rifle. The pulse rifle is a good choice too although I do not use it that often. I feel that it is not as easy to use as the auto rifle and not as impactful as the scout rifle and the hand cannon. I however have to say that the pulse is very good at one thing: scoring headshot. First you aim at the chest just below the neck, which is larger and easier to aim than the head, then the recoil will move the muzzle up and you will hit the head. Lately, I have done some PvP matches and some team PvE. I have noticed that a lot of people are using the auto rifle. I would say nearly a majority of them. For me, I just cannot get used to the constant recoil and the constant adjusting of aim. I understand its appeal and it also manages to score a lot of team kills too. With the auto rifle, you can start aiming at the general direction before moving into a more precise aiming, and thus almost always hits something. WIth the scout rifle and the hand cannon, you have to aim first before firing, and then reengage when necessary and fire again. In PvE teaming, it annoys me to see that my kill counts are lower than a auto rifle user but I believe I deal more or less the same amount of damage; just that my bullets hit fewer targets. So anyway, what do you use? Please share your views on the primary weapons. Thanks!

  • I've been exclusively using a scout rifle as my primary since level 15 it so (PvE and PvP). I like the precision and versatility with it; however, I do find the damage somewhat lacking on PvP. Looking forward to the patch that ups the precision damage.

  • I stink at aiming so I use Doctor Nope. It throws out a ton of lead, which compensates for my terrible aim and the stability isn't to bad for an AR. My son who rolls with a Titan and is a way better player than me uses The Stranger's Rifle and a Galahad-E.

The weapons are broken into 3 areas Long range, Mid range, and Close range. (L, M, or C) Auto Rifle: M and C this Rifle is effective against large numbers and shielded. And adding Armer upgrades increase aim, reload speed, and others areas . Taping or controlling the rate of fire is good. Scout Rifle: L, and M Are powerful and aiming is accurate and good in small numbers but if in a group is great. Hand Cannon: M, and C Aiming is good and powerful . It like the Scout Rifle but in reverse . Pulse Rifle: L, M and C the 3 round burst is good for control. Aim may rise during firing. But just aim for the chest or on the vex the stomach. Good in large, medium, and small numbers And I use all depending on what types of enemies I am dealing with.

Hand Cannons are the heaviest hitting guns in the game. I admit they aren't great for use in crucible(for non-seasoned players) but it still packs quite a punch. To use the hand cannon properly in PvP play, you would need to practice PvE play a lot more to get a proper feel for the gun. Similar to what you did for the scout rifle. Once you master that gun it will be easier for you to get the kills you are looking for while using less ammo. For PvE, it would likely take one precise shot(depending on your level), for PvP it would take about two or three(depending on if you can shot fast enough. I'm currently looking for "The Last Word" hand cannon. Really powerful.

        • Depends entirely on my activity. Low level patrol = AR. AR is a one hit kill on low levels with Suros Regime. Meaning there is no reason to use a precision weapon that is also a one hit kill. High level challenging activities = hand cannon. Dropping 1.3k damage per headshot just cannot be matched. Crucible: Shotgun, hand cannon, AR, sniper.

          • I've been using a scout rifle for the most part but i finally found a pulse rifle i like and bought some vanguard/crucible gear to help pulse rifles after receiving the bad juju bounty. Don't have it yet, but the one i have currently does a pretty good job, I'm surprised.

More people need to try hand cannons BC they pretty much destroy everything in pve. Huge plus when raiding. The devil you know is a great one BC of its 13 round clip with extended "mag" and increased damage after a kill
