It's no secret that there are a bunch of people who feel that Destiny's story is sorely lacking. But its not really, you just have to search for it. Now, I understand that's probably a design choice, but I think perhaps you have to do a little too much searching. In fact, there's plenty of people who feel like they shouldn't need to read the grimoire cards.
Grimoire cards serve exactly the same function as audio diaries and similar things do in games like the BioShock series or the Borderlands series. The only difference between grimoire and audio diary is that grimoire requires that players either look at their phones or go onto bungie.net just to take in a little snippet of lore, instead of just listening for 15 seconds in game.
Now, I know this a lot to ask, because not only would it be kind of expensive, but also very time consuming, but I think turning the Grimoire Cards into something like an audio diary would go a long way in improving the presentation of this game's story.
Some of the grimoire cards are snippets of conversations. Imagine if we could actually hear those conversations - hearing the character's emotions and better understanding their personalities - instead of just reading words. Other grimoire cards are just merely relaying facts though. But imagine if your Ghost or one of the Vanguards relayed that information to you. You just unlocked the card about the Fallen Shock Pistol? Great! Now here's Cayde-6 to tell you all about it!
On top of this, an in-game feature to either re-play all of your found audio diaries or read a transcript would also be a nice feature.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Anything?

That is a dumb idea. Traffic cones have no ears, so how could I possibly listen to the diary?

Edited by TheKungLao: 10/31/2015 11:55:08 PMLove the idea. It could be kinda like what Mass Effect had with their codex.
-
it would be cool if it had a concept art type picture while you're listening to the audio file of the grimiore, kinda like they did in ghosts for the intel

Edited by All Skulls On: 10/15/2015 11:18:37 PMIf one is too impatient to read the cards then how could they possibly have the patience to sit and listen to them be acted out in audio? lol No thanks.

Many games also have a codex in the menu (dragon age, etc) where you can see story cards like this, so even without the audio it would at least be better through an in-game menu than the current method, which most players will never see

Or or wait for it.. Better idea! Light bulb moment💡 ADD THE STUFF ON THE CARDS TO THE ACTUALL GAME.

Good idea breh.

Good idea. If you don't have the app you're missing out on all of this. I think there's something to be said for parts of the written grimoire but most of the stuff should be audio files or even video files or objects to be examined.

Good idea. Bump

Wait... I thought the next evolution in video games is to create more content outside of the actual video game than in it. Was I bamboozled by Destiny? Isn't Destiny the only true next generation game? It's so OP you need additional computers to access the complexities contained within Destiny's Universe. I've been told Destiny 2 entire story will be in paperback, the video game will just be green 1's and 0's like the Matrix. You don't even need a controller since they are pretty angry most of us avoided PvP or just hate it. How else can you explain the additional grinding they have added recently? On another note, does Destiny have the smallest maps with loading screens? DC Universe Online has HUGE open world maps without loading screens every 100 yards traveled. Should have just used my $100 I spent on Destiny and kept sinking it into that game. At least I still enjoy grinding in that game.

Would be cool but paying people like Bill Nighy to do more voice work for them is an expense I think bungie wont shell out for. Probably what the problem was in the first place.
-
The grimoire is getting pretty good, we need this now more than ever. Hopefully I can get a chance to edit the OP soon!

Bioshock infine :)

This would work especially well on PS4 controllers. Sony might not even need to pay extra for the exclusivity.
-
Oh my god, Ghost Fragment Thorn 2 would sound AMAZING

This should have been in the game at release, they could have saved themselves a lot of headache. Removing the story from the game has to be one of the worst decisions they made. Even as a Destiny fan when people mention <lack of> story, I'm like, yeah, can't argue with you there. wtf..

Have them narrated by Morgan Freeman too.

Ooh like borderlands. I'm in.

I like this idea
