exotic bounties and making people play crucible to complete them
yes, while this OP is specifically about the thorn, its the fact that it was the first exotic bounty i got, and the gun i wanted. if it had been the bad juju i was after, this post would still exist, but the example, or specific situation would be about that gun instead,
my argument is mainly around the concept if forcing players into the crucible (or visa versa) for content. no other MMO style game does this. and as long as this concept exists, i'll always fight against it.
i have completed this bounty btw.
dont care what CoD fan -blam!-wits troll about this. this is still the worst thing about destiny. having an exotic that requires someone to go somewhere where they dont like because A) not good enough, and B) too many -blam!-y CoD fan boys is -blam!-ing moronic.
i tried tonight and with a controller im just not cut out to do it. i'd get 5 points if im lucky in a round, and lose it all the next.
worst -blam!-ing decision ever bungie. totally, utterly, and completely moronic. who ever created these bounties needs a kick in the -blam!-ing balls, several times, with a 50 meter run up.
EDIT: ok. while i till maintain my position that forcing someone to do this is a monumentally bad idea, and flawed in every conceivable way, the main problem i have with this part of that bounty (the one for the hand cannon), is that you lose 2 points on death. for those players of destiny that cannot compete well enough in the crucible to maintain a semi decent k:d ratio, this negative means that this bounty is not doable.
and the extended problem is that with this "mechanic", bungie can say that you cannot complete certain story missions without involving the crucible. which will mean that people wont be able to complete the story if they cannot maintain a semi decent k:d ratio. this scares me.
EDIT#2: possible fixes
1-remove the negative and either A) increase the points cap needed, or B) reduce the points per kill
2-have options for people to choose either crucible or non crucible content for specific stage.
3- remove the void requirement
4- make a map that will let me play any style instead of charging around like a halo/cod boffin. Let me climb and hide in corners, let me snipe and displace. The current maps do not allow this.

Noone is forcing you to do the bountys. If you enjoy pve, continue playing that and wait for drops. It's an option to earn an item for playing bungies game to the fullest, not a way to progress within the game, if they forced you to pvp to level your light or as a means to progress I get it.

It would be nice for an option to obtain bounties by doing the requirements in pvp for players who want that option. then a way to do it in pve for the people who want to stay out of pvp.

2 RepliesI know you're frustrated, but it's all about the grind. I play a lot of PvP, so it's second nature. I also think it's what Bungie does best. But the best advice I can give you is be happy with slow progress, because it's still progress. Wait it out. Also, stick with your team, it does help.

While I'll admit it can be challenging its not impossible for casuals. Just spend your off time in control . It's easier to predict movements there. Shot gun and fusion rifles are King so make sure to use them

I have two exotic bounties to finish (Bad Juju and Thorn). I have never played in the crucible to reach this lvl. I want the exotics so ill do the tasks required. I dont like the fact ill have to get the 500 points void damage. I'll get it tho

Edited by cjnusn: 10/2/2014 8:48:09 AMI actually agree with this stinking forced pvp thing but to be honest you can get exotics often enough from xur and strikesamd raids engrams and rep rewards so I guess it's to try to get pve folks to play pvp just as much as pvp folks go into the pve world for shards and other materials But as I said I agree that it is a pain in the rear but I actually feel that it's balanced too I mean if you spent years making something wouldn't you try to "encourage" folks to enjoy all of it I edited a auto correct thing and I'm sure I'll need to again

The 2 that allow for negative progression are the worst. You can be decent and happen into a game with bad team mates and good opponents and loose significant progress. It promotes leaving the game unless you're going to do well. Anyways, easiest way to acomplish these is to get a fireteam of 3 and go to rumble. You'll all go into the same game together but you can fight each other. Pick a spot to head to after respawn and take turns finishing the bounties that you need. The fall guys just need to use characters that don't have a bounty they can lose progress on. You'll have up to 3 others to deal with, but it will go significantly faster than doing it normally.

Word of advice. If the exotic bounties are too hard for you, then delete them. I also don't like the crucible, and if I get a bounty that takes me there I ditch it. Plenty of other exotic bounties that don't make you go to crucible. Just man up and not expect someone to hold your hand in a game. They have already made leveling up way to easy for everyone. Now your asking them to hand out exotics? Get real or go play some pokemon.
