exotic bounties and making people play crucible to complete them
yes, while this OP is specifically about the thorn, its the fact that it was the first exotic bounty i got, and the gun i wanted. if it had been the bad juju i was after, this post would still exist, but the example, or specific situation would be about that gun instead,
my argument is mainly around the concept if forcing players into the crucible (or visa versa) for content. no other MMO style game does this. and as long as this concept exists, i'll always fight against it.
i have completed this bounty btw.
dont care what CoD fan -blam!-wits troll about this. this is still the worst thing about destiny. having an exotic that requires someone to go somewhere where they dont like because A) not good enough, and B) too many -blam!-y CoD fan boys is -blam!-ing moronic.
i tried tonight and with a controller im just not cut out to do it. i'd get 5 points if im lucky in a round, and lose it all the next.
worst -blam!-ing decision ever bungie. totally, utterly, and completely moronic. who ever created these bounties needs a kick in the -blam!-ing balls, several times, with a 50 meter run up.
EDIT: ok. while i till maintain my position that forcing someone to do this is a monumentally bad idea, and flawed in every conceivable way, the main problem i have with this part of that bounty (the one for the hand cannon), is that you lose 2 points on death. for those players of destiny that cannot compete well enough in the crucible to maintain a semi decent k:d ratio, this negative means that this bounty is not doable.
and the extended problem is that with this "mechanic", bungie can say that you cannot complete certain story missions without involving the crucible. which will mean that people wont be able to complete the story if they cannot maintain a semi decent k:d ratio. this scares me.
EDIT#2: possible fixes
1-remove the negative and either A) increase the points cap needed, or B) reduce the points per kill
2-have options for people to choose either crucible or non crucible content for specific stage.
3- remove the void requirement
4- make a map that will let me play any style instead of charging around like a halo/cod boffin. Let me climb and hide in corners, let me snipe and displace. The current maps do not allow this.

Agreeee i currently have the bounty and really want thorn but i just cant do it and im decent at pvp. Id get points in 2 matches and lose em all in the 3rd. Its frustrating. I havent raged at a game in a long time but this made me. Id be good if the negative was gone or specific kill type

I 100% agree with you on this, I dislike the PVP in this game and I don't like being forced to use it in order to complete a quest that started out PVE.

1 ReplyI felt this same way when I was trying to get thorn, I don't play much pvp at all. But I will say this if you are having trouble play skirmish with only 3 on 3 and if you stay together even on bad round you still come off about even or ahead. It's the best mode for doing exotic bounty cuz you don't have to worry about so many other players.

1 ReplyIn every mmo game I've played that's any good there are plenty of weapon and armor items that are damn near unattainable to anyone except the top players. Also in those games there are items that range from consumables all the way up to top tier armor and even mounts than are only earned through specific game types. If you want a certain weapon you have to complete the objective to get it. Personally I am HORRIBLE at PvP (check my stats if you don't believe me) and ive managed to get thorn, bad juju and invective. It wasn't easy, but I wanted them so I completed the task required. Honestly I think they should have made them a lot harder to get so scrubs like me couldn't even dream of getting post mortem badges left and right thanks to the thorn (and no thanks to my skill.) TL;DR- Good MMOs always have gear that is hard to earn. If you want it bad enough, you'll work to earn it.

I'm with you however I did this bounty with a fusion rifle. Didn't take too long. Just keep you K/D above 0.5 and you'll get it done. But they do need to make it an option between PvP and PvE.

I did this bounty for my friend in under a day. When I did it took me nearly a month. I have gotten much better at pvp clearly. While I still wish you would not have to go in to pvp for these I understand why. They want you to try new things. They want you to experience everything the game has to offer. I think it should just be hand cannon kills in stead of void kills. Maybe even both.

It's a Game. and this game is fun both in pve and pvp

We never had this many complaints when Thorn was a steaming pile of shit. People just used to deleted the bounty and move on. Since it got buffed, my my what a lot of complaints we've had. I got the rubbish version and don't really play crucible but managed to do it in a couple of hours. Guess you got to get good or accept you are not going to get it.

Its an EXOTIC BOUNTY. They are suppose to be hard and challenging so its not easy to complete. If it was easy to complete then it wouldnt be an exotic at the end of the bounty. I did that bounty in 2 days. It was bot that hard IMO. And im ok at crucible and ok at PVE. You learn o adapt to what you have to do to finish. Bounties that force you to do stuff you are not good at males you a better player. And you feel more satisfied and accomplished when Youve finally finished it and receive our exotic prize.
