>blames activision, last i checked bungie signed with activison so they equally to blame here.

Activision did not want this game to become what it could have been, everyone would be playing it well into next year. WHICH WOULD HAVE LEFT NO ROOM FOR COD SALES.
-
activision isnt so stupid that they would intentionally butcher a cash cow for the sake of another title, not to mention there are 12 months in the year, quit trying to defend bungie when they are equalally to blame here.
-
You have a point. As to why they thought it would be a good idea to work with Activision is beyond me. It's clear, though, that the near deplorable state of the game is due to Activisions "causlization" ideas.
-
Activision is desperate to have another game with cod type sales numbers on their hands. If cod ever drys up what will they have? Movie tie in games? From what I've read Activision gave bungie control of this ip unlike what happened with m$ and halo where m$ kept the rights to halo. That could be a big reason why bungie signed with this particular publisher. I don't particularly like Activision's business practices so I definitely let out a sigh when I heard bungie was going with them.

Ur both right but in the end bungie had the last word in it they talked all this stuff about how big and great and un like any game before it in actuality its less than any game before it I beat this game in 5 hours (would have been 2 hours if I didn't have to work) I really wouldn't mind sitting through **** 5 hours for an update if that would mean I got a more completed game both bungie and Activision need to man up and fix there game not through DLC's but a compete revamp and complete this disappointment of a game if I were bungie I would have taken my name off the game if I knew what a lack of a comprehensive story line this is.

If you think a developer has more say so than a publisher or producer then you are sorely mistaken. I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how the industry works. As for the rest of your comment, well it's completely incoherent and I can't make sense of it.
-
While i will agree sir, it needs to be fixed, i highly doubt it will be, being that theres a large amount of people on this forum pretty much sucking bungies dick and white knighting for them, they can just use them as an excuse and say, well the majority of the community thinks the games great, well just sell this as dlc!
-
I believe the reviews from professional outlets are being heard. A 77 metacritic score is not what they had in mind, I'm sure.
-
Good point.

The DLC format is not part of this discussion. It's the seemingly infinite power that the publisher is granted over key design aspects of the game. At what point does activison cease to become the publisher and begin to become the dev? Should they have this much pull?

Edited by zergjoke: 10/1/2014 6:33:48 AMThe amount of sway a publisher has over a developer has and always will be over exaggurated being that your average gamer has a more liberal view of these corps than your average american, there really hasent been much direct implication of publisher actually changing the game mid development in bungies case, You cant treat this as your normal developer -blam!- a dev because in those cases, the publisher owned said dev, activision doesnt own bungie, so anything we point to activision bungie is equallly to blame because they agreed to sign on and bungie has more breathing room to develop rather than lets say infinity ward.

I understand what you're saying but it has been explicitly stated that activision did make drastic changes to the shape of Destiny while the game well into the development process. I feel like many people underestimate the amount of power that publishers have over the developers that they contract. Activision is infamous for -blam!-ing with their devs work. Look at Post-activision WoW for example.
