I really don't know what you're trying to say at this point. Are you trying to offer me some advice by suggesting that I create more... "polite" complaints? Let me tell you something, when your entire community is up in arms about your game and your only response is more PR spin and complete hyperbole, then you know you've done a bad job. Look around, the "constructive feedback" approach has been tried and it failed; Bungie refuse to acknowledge any complaints beyond a tactless Weekly Update comment. The next step from calm anger is outrage, my friend. At risk of sounding like an asshole, you're coming off as sounding like a long-time/ veteran dev, when in reality you only have experience developing very small-time games. I'm sure a lot of people here have developed some sort of a game at one point or another (no matter how small). I know I have, and while it in no way contributed to the industry, logic would dictate that I have as much experience as you. Once again, what exactly gives you this "moral authority" in this situation?

  • I thought I was clear. With at least a professional response your commentary won't be outwardly ignored by folks in the know. You're spinning yourself as a gamer, you probably don't want that if you actually want to have your thoughts viewed as credible. There is no entitlement to whiny complaints called outrage. Nor is the community up in arms. A few vocal folks are complaining. A statistically insignificant number, I'd surmise. Having been doing game development for almost ten years now, I've got the grey on my peaches to give advice. If you want to be immediately ignored by devs, then by all means, go for it and stay the course. Your choice, you'll still have your echo chamber. This was something I discussed with a publisher earlier today, we ultimately agreed with each other about the topic at hand.

It amazes me that you're still standing on the grounds of "This is how it works, I'm an Indie dev so I know". I'm sorry, but to not listen to consumer complaints is laughably moronic--Bungie have not been listening to complaints and look at the backlash. To just pass off an overwhelming amount of negative feedback--as you just did--is simply amazing to me. So you're saying that when your forums are on fire with negativity, when huge websites are bashing your game, when your game receives poor reviews, and when the general publics' response to your game is very negative, you should just pass it off and try to convince yourself that only a small percentage of the demographic are upset? No, because this way of thinking is (again) moronic. It's very clear to me that your agenda mimics that of the OP's. I'm sorry, but making a few Indie games and pretentiously pointing out that you were "talking" with an ambiguous publisher isn't helping you argument, my friend. Please answer my question.

  • Forums on fire? No. Huge websites "bashing"? No. I'm not sure if you understood what I said about statistically insignificant, but I'll put it this way. A handful of players use the forum. A handful of that handful is upset. A handful of that particular handful is spouting inane nonsense. It's statisically insignificant and based on promoting vitriol and flaming over discourse and understanding. Your question has no relevance. However, as a gamer with zero understanding of the industry, you don't know any better. I mean, get where you're coming from, it's not exactly what you want, therefore it's "horrible." Yet, what you fail to understand is, the people b&m'ing are a minor blip. They're also a minor blip that's already bought through. I'm also not very concerned that you think my opinions are ambiguous or whatever. I've merely attempted to tilt at a windmill, and have a few lols doing it. :) I will reiterate, your inability to properly frame your critique of the game will rob it of any potential credibility it would be viewed as having. Learn to play nice, explain your position, and leave the BS out, and you will go further. Don't do that, and be viewed as one of the gamergate kin. So it is, so it shall be. Best of luck having your opinions listened to

And yet you still persist with this mentality that you know how everything works while failing to provide any actual credentials. It's so incredibly ironic that your argue credibility yet base your entire argument around the assumption that anyone will actually believe that you're this hugely experienced game developer. You do nothing but make vain attempts to impose your relevance over mine yet at the same time argue that your relevance is credible. Here is a wake up call: while my belligerent feedback after nothing but complete and utter incompetence to communicate and denial in regards to any of the legitimate problems relating to Destiny on Bungies part may be unbecoming, you--a so-called "person of the industry"--portraying yourself in the manner in which you currently are is indicative that you are the complete antitheses of a respectable developer. My question has no relevance? Oh, but it has all the relevance in the world right now. The forums aren't on fire? Oh... Then care to explain why so many posts are either bashing the game or defending the game from said "bashers" of the game? Are you denying that a very large sum of the posts on the forums contain negative words denoting huge flaws in Destiny? Websites aren't casting a negative light on Destiny? Do you deny that sites like IGN, Gamespot, Polygon, Giantbomb and Destructoid have been giving Destiny poor reviews? Do you deny that these sites (links below) contain users unhappy with their experiences with Destiny? http://n4g.com/news/1596704/im-going-back-to-destiny-in-9-months http://www.kotaku.com.au/2014/09/destiny-leak-shows-what-future-dlc-could-bring/ http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2hs532/if_it_seems_like_most_people_here_are_unhappy/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cExMKVbQdQ Let me put it in a way you'll understand... A lot of people are saying negative things about Destiny and Bungie aren't listening. Claiming that these complaints are "insane nonsense" is ridiculous. It's painfully obvious that you're only intentions here are to discredit me because I have said negative things about Destiny. You blatantly don't care about my contributions to the industry, rather used your minor experience (compared to a AAA dev) as a point to make your opinion seem more credible than mine. This is the simple fact of the matter.

  • Oh, don't you play dumb. You know very well that I could have easily given you ten more examples. Playing dumb is your shield.... ironically though, your "shield of pomp and naivety" will be your downfall. Good luck with your game.

  • No shield, just enjoying you. Remember, I'm not the one frustrated because I'm not being listened to. Also, thanks. Got some really big stuff coming for a couple of them this quarter.

A respectable developer who insults their consumers is an oxymoron. Again, good luck with your game.

Allow me to change my comment. A successful developer who insults their consumers and is made to look foolish by said consumers is an oxymoron.

  • And this is now the point in time where talking to you becomes pointless. Just remember one name - Phil Fish.

Got that in just as I edited my comment, didn't you? To clarify, my original comment did contain the sentence "claim to be". With your newest comment taken into consideration - good luck with your game.
