The joking set aside, does anyone remember when bungie said that you would have to fight deep into enemy controlled areas and ancient ruins to get badass exotic weapons? I remember when bungie mentioned thorn, I could have sworn they said that you would get that kind of weapon for a great adventure/exploration or something like that...but it seems the only way of getting awesome gear is just by luck or completing bounties. What I'm getting at is...how can my exotic tell a story? Better yet when ppl ask me how I got an exotic, what am I to say? Oh I completed some ridiculous bounty that took me a few days to do...what kind of amazing story of how you got your exotic is that? See what I'm saying? Having to do bounties...idk it takes away that meaning behind the exotic. I rather be able to tell someone (the following situation is made up by me, none of these enemies or story plot exist)
.........................
So I joined up with my friends to explore deeper into the ruins on Mars. We reached some ancient tomb...we battled our way through mass amounts of enemies, slaughtering them without thought until reaching the main tomb. We were then met by (insert badass imagined enemy/boss here) and after almost losing the battle we rose victorious over the creature. As soon as the monster had perished the tombstone that lay in the middle of the chamber opened. Inside rest a weapon....named....Rest in Peace...I grabbed the weapon and immediately equipped it...it's description read, "A peaceful lullaby for those who oppose you"
And see now not only does my weapon sound badass but it has a story behind it...it gives more meaning to the acquisition of the weapon.
(Also note that each fire team member picked up their own individual weapons that had different descriptions but were all unique)

Watch the video of the destiny e3 release That's exactly what they said and showed it would be like! They go kill a horde, after a fire team member gets dropped of by his ship in game!!!! And when the boss comes out they kill him and both claim an exotic one is thunder lord! I soooooo wish it was like how that trailer way back at e3 showed!
-
If only that was real
-
I know right
-
Dude exactly what I've been saying man yes exactly. How can we have a story with this random ass loot. "Yeah got my ass kicked in pvp and I won this exotic gun!" Pssht wtf bungie
-
So true!!!!
-
That... was beautiful. *Wipes away a tear of windshield cleaner from his Exo eye.* Simply beautiful...
-
This would be exactly what I thought was going to happen yet it is not. Well put.
-
Same here man.

Ikr very disappointed

Same here. Like when someone asks me about my exotic I want there to be that "story" you know? Like I should be able to tell of a great battle that I participated (in other words these events should be spontaneous/random but be unique encounters not these public events)
-
Nah dude... nothing beats telling someone you bought your shit from the shady dude over by the random door... Best story I got is a 30 minute wait for xyor the unwed for the thorn... it was a miserable wait.... so tedious and the rain of death falling from the pillars of many a hive knight... oh the doom that killed my team over and over again.... When xyor finally showed up I 2 shotted him with a rocket launcher... then I was like... hmmm Why did I do all of that just to 2 shot some dude... much fun... such greatness... so wow.
-
Also I want bosses actually to drop cool weapons so it feels even cooler when u just defeated a incredible strike. Also the loot is more random than rewarding
-
Yes...I agree with this... It puts more meaning behind doing something.....
-
The bosses should be more interesting to play against they so far are mostly bullet sponges
-
Bullet sponges for the win
-
"wow sick Exotic, where'd you get it??" "oh this? I shot into a cave for a week straight"
-
And that is what I'm saying. Like exotics should have a higher meaning than just farming.

This reminds me of Epic Class Mount quests in WoW. Actually going through all the different areas and dungeons and finally completing everything for that unique mount was great. Then....they ruined it by, "Yo dawg! We heard kidz like EZ mod3z! So all you have to do is spend 100 gold and you get your mount!" It's starting to feel a bit like that in Destiny, however. Still loving the game!

Yeah WOW is ruined too.
