So many times, especially when it's night at the Tower, I've looked out at The City. Our Tower is so far removed from all the hustle and bustle down there. But this is the last great bastion of humanity. What's it like? What are the lives of the people we're protecting? Are they comfortable; or are they afraid? How do they feel about the elusive Guardians in their far off Tower?
Where do they get food from, and other resources that would need to be imported into such a large and dense urban area? There must be other settlements. There must be rural areas. Maybe there are local militias guarding them. How great would it be to have a new area on Earth where we need to protect civilian settlements too far from The City to be under the Tower's immediate protection?

I was just talking to a friend about having something like sieges on the city, but that could also translate to maybe smaller settlements. I feel like an outside settlement might not survive though, especially with the Fallen controlling a lot of the wasteland areas.

This would certainly make for an interesting gameplay dynamic. Maybe do "Alert" missions where a remote outpost or farmstead is coming under attack and requesting Guardian assistance. To do something like this would require a lot of content and work though. To really do it right, you would need a highly intelligent rules based PCG (Procedural Content Generation) engine to build a fair sized map from pre-fabs or tiles, then slap a scenario complete with objectives and AI pathing for both freindly and enemy entities down. That's sequel or major expansion territory.
