Forcing PvE players into the Crucible
I love this game and have been playing it a lot... However, I recently picked up an exotic bounty for Toland's Legacy. After researching the requirements, I found out that I have to go into the crucible. WHY? I am not a PvP player. I would prefer to stay as far away from the PvP as possible.
Why are you forcing us to go into the Crucible? It is not just this exotic bounty that is requiring me to go into the curcible. If I want gear from FWC, New Monarchy or Dead Orbit - I have to.
I remember there was an article where it was said Halo was PvP and you couldn't do both PvE and PvP support. Now you can, so why are you forcing us into the crucible?
The crucible part of the bounty gives you +25 for a Hunter or Titan kill and +75 for warlocks - however you are docked -50 if you die. I will never be good enough to get this bounty done. Eventually I will have to abandon this bounty. (EDIT: There are reports that the "death penalty" is no longer active, so it is just a kill grind - if that is true. I will update the thread when I actually try it for myself - Thanks subaqueousReach for the research).
Bungie you have a wonderful game - JUST STOP forcing folks to go into the crucible.
EDIT: Why so many attacking comments, when the PvE only players want to stay in PvE. It makes no sense to me that you want us in the PvP to bring down the team with our skills. All we are asking for is more options? I just can't understand why more options is being rejected.
Update:
I have both the Bad Juju and Thorn bounties so I started them both in the crucible at the same time. I have played 10 games of crucible and currently have a KDR of 0.91 and I am slowly getting both of these bounties done. I can confirm that the 10000 points for the bad juju does NOT contain any death penalties. So this one is simply a grind getting kills anyway you can. The Thorn 500 points in VOID kills does have dealth penalties and my KDR is not helping me get this one done very quickly.
After 10 games, I will report that I still do NOT like the PvP. I will continue to struggle through it to get these bounties done. I still wish there were options of not doing the PvP.

Update 2:
I have played 14 games in the PVP and completed the Bad Juju bounty. I am still working on another bounty to get 500 points in kills using only void weapons (5 points per kill and -2 for each death). As of the 14 games I am at 361 out of 500. I have stopped playing PvP until I can get better VOID based weapons.
I am still not a fan of PvP and have no desire to play it in the future after these bounties are done.
For those saying "I'm a PvP player, stop making me go into PvE", this is exactly why I am asking for options. You could easily require 25 wins in crucible matches instead of 25 strikes. Bungie has options to create bounties that are only for PvE or PvP - they don't have to mix the elements.

Meh, its a way of obtaining an exotic without waiting for Xur or an extremely rare and random drop. I agree with the decission to include many aspects from the game to recieve it. If the weapons were set up so that they only worked in pve or pvp exclusively, it would be a different story. Also agreeing with everyone else who posted about some people only liking pvp and not pve. A very obvious point there.

5 RepliesBottomed line is this, 1st off, too many players are not playing campaign and going straight to multiplayer. Destiny fixed that, it's only fair to do same with people who only play campaign.

Agreed. I don't care for PvP much, and coming from a less-popular locale for these sorts of games, that usually also means some noticeable lag. The cap on Vanguard Marks and the fact that five of the vendors stocking legendaries require Crucible Marks, compared to two using PvE currency, already feels like an inordinately strong push towards PvP. Exotic weapon bounties don't really need to add to this. I get that Bungie's proud of their competitive mode, but I didn't buy this game to play that stuff.

I stand behind you 100% on this. I understand this game has everything and that PvP is a thing many current gamers obsess over. But those of us who don't play PvP should not be handicapped because of it. My complaint currently is for the past two days now 3 out of 5 of the Queen's Bounties are PvP only. I'm not saying they now need to just cater to the PvE audience. Maybe just have 6 bounties per day in each category. 3 for PvP and 3 for PvE.

3 RepliesI would like to point out that you can get dead orbit and those other faction's gear by doing strictly PVE, just buy one of their cloaks marks or bonds and it will turn all bounty/rep earned into those factions, regardless of if it is vanguard or PVP rep

5 RepliesIm with ya. Ive never been one to enjoy PvP, but am now being asked to do it for marks for a faction. This ultimately just killed me being part of any faction. I bought Destiny for PvE. Yes, I knew PvP was in Destiny, but had no idea I would be forced to do it for faction marks. Killed a big part of Destiny for me. I know ppl will hate on my post, but I bought Destiny for travel/exploration/killing big bosses. Not to PvP.

Regarding the weapons for factions, you can always grind resources (like spinmetal) from each world and turn it in to the crucible quartermaster for rep and marks.

I feel the same mostly because ever since I got the game I have not been able to connect to a single person unless a game invite is involved, this makes all of the matchmaking in the game useless to me.

Same feeling. Having to do PvP headshot bounties which turn into 4 to 5 hours of PvP just to unlock a few mission for a few shards so I can be better far pve is -blam!-ing aggravating.

Agreed. We should be free to play the game the way we want... Like WoW, where even PvP rewards -gear- is awesome in PvP, but near-useless in PvE. I give up on exotic bounties (3, so far) just because of this. Anyway, should PvP stay that more important than PvE in this game I'll have to admit I was wrong about Destiny. But, hell, that'd be a shame considering how promising PvE is !

I roll with a group of 5 others in pvp, so when pve kids come along...we enjoy it. We enjoy gaping pve scrubs in pvp...good times

9 RepliesYou don't have to play PvP for the factions, you can get Crucible marks from selling resources to the Crucible Quartermaster. It's actually a lot faster, too, IMO. I'm not a big fan of PvP either, I'll only play with my friends. +1

I have to agree, I love PVE, I can hold my own on PVP but I'm just not a fan. I would much prefer if the exotic bounties had 2 ways to achieve the goal, one PVE and 1 PVP. BUT i also understand that you cant just say "kill 500 fallen/vex/hive./cabal" instead of "kill 500 guardians" I mean, come on that would be far far to easy. no i would suggest raising the target by loads (say 10k instead of just 500). If people still say that's to easy, why not have more missions in the PVE chain. I want the exotic stuff, I have no issue spending extra time and effort killing more enemies, completing more strikes, spending more motes of light/strange coins, having a PVE quest chain that is 2/3 times longer then the PVP quest chain, but to get the exotic stuff I don't want to be forced to do PVP, like I said, I.m just not a fan....

Why do people reject your very reasonable idea? Probably because PVPers want PVEers to get in there and feed them kills and give them someone to look better than. Until they have a team full of PVE'ers who can't PVP, then it's shit. But that'll hardly happen. It's kinda like Titanfall's only having a handful of real players, and the rest of the bots are there to make you feel good.

16 RepliesListen this is why so many people are upset about Destiny... Because they think this is an MMORPG which it is not it is a PvP multiplayer first person shooter with rpg elements. Meaning the main mode of this game is actually the crucible, yes seriously it is. So for people like you that don't want to do the crucible that is cool and all but that also means you don't need an exotic that is meant for the crucible either, you want to get an exotic that is meant for PvE not PvP. Also do not quote me on this but I don't believe anyone needs an exotic to even do the level 26 raid as well as anything level 28+.

1 ReplyYour issue about the Bounty is relevant if we're talking about a PVE faction (Vanguard) but the other factions aren't. Your basically saying people that play pvp or both should not get Tower options as well which is silly. It's not forcing if the factions you're speaking of have no involvement in PvE anyways...

The other bungie games had great co-op ability and i didn't even have to touch pvp cause I hate it. Now i have 2 gold bounty's I cant finish cause the pvp objective is way out of my skillsets. Not to mention the FREAKIN THINGS RESET all the time and I lose my progress. In all the adverts and whatnot you see 3 people working together... Had i known the truth I never never never... would have spent 100+ on this game. Im over 50 years old and I just don't have the motor skills of those half my age. Why should I be penalized for that??? I should have a non-pvp option to complete my gold bounty... with the queen update I cant Finnish either cause 50% of the missions are pvp as well. I would love return the pass and this game.... PS... PLEASE explain again why there is no option to turn down or off the music? Seriously?!?!? ((edit The pvp mission is to kill 500 guardians with void. and death cuts my progress in half.. as a hunter ??? soooo not gona happen....)))
