Forcing PvE players into the Crucible
I love this game and have been playing it a lot... However, I recently picked up an exotic bounty for Toland's Legacy. After researching the requirements, I found out that I have to go into the crucible. WHY? I am not a PvP player. I would prefer to stay as far away from the PvP as possible.
Why are you forcing us to go into the Crucible? It is not just this exotic bounty that is requiring me to go into the curcible. If I want gear from FWC, New Monarchy or Dead Orbit - I have to.
I remember there was an article where it was said Halo was PvP and you couldn't do both PvE and PvP support. Now you can, so why are you forcing us into the crucible?
The crucible part of the bounty gives you +25 for a Hunter or Titan kill and +75 for warlocks - however you are docked -50 if you die. I will never be good enough to get this bounty done. Eventually I will have to abandon this bounty. (EDIT: There are reports that the "death penalty" is no longer active, so it is just a kill grind - if that is true. I will update the thread when I actually try it for myself - Thanks subaqueousReach for the research).
Bungie you have a wonderful game - JUST STOP forcing folks to go into the crucible.
EDIT: Why so many attacking comments, when the PvE only players want to stay in PvE. It makes no sense to me that you want us in the PvP to bring down the team with our skills. All we are asking for is more options? I just can't understand why more options is being rejected.
Update:
I have both the Bad Juju and Thorn bounties so I started them both in the crucible at the same time. I have played 10 games of crucible and currently have a KDR of 0.91 and I am slowly getting both of these bounties done. I can confirm that the 10000 points for the bad juju does NOT contain any death penalties. So this one is simply a grind getting kills anyway you can. The Thorn 500 points in VOID kills does have dealth penalties and my KDR is not helping me get this one done very quickly.
After 10 games, I will report that I still do NOT like the PvP. I will continue to struggle through it to get these bounties done. I still wish there were options of not doing the PvP.

Update 2:
I have played 14 games in the PVP and completed the Bad Juju bounty. I am still working on another bounty to get 500 points in kills using only void weapons (5 points per kill and -2 for each death). As of the 14 games I am at 361 out of 500. I have stopped playing PvP until I can get better VOID based weapons.
I am still not a fan of PvP and have no desire to play it in the future after these bounties are done.
For those saying "I'm a PvP player, stop making me go into PvE", this is exactly why I am asking for options. You could easily require 25 wins in crucible matches instead of 25 strikes. Bungie has options to create bounties that are only for PvE or PvP - they don't have to mix the elements.

3 RepliesI am not a fan of PvP in Destiny either but I did this bounty and it did not take very long to complete that part of it. Grinding through 25 strikes was far more time consuming and excruciating. Just be prepared for everyone and their brother to be using a shotgun, fusion rifle, auto rifle, or a mix of the 3.

1 ReplyI completely agree with you. I bought this game for PvE. I enjoy mowing down hordes of AI with a couple friends. I would also like to be rewarded just as much as the people playing purely PvP. Unfortunately faction gear is only purchasable with crucible marks which makes you feel like you're missing out on the end-game motivation. My time playing Destiny slowly decreased as I realized how long it takes for me to save enough Vangard marks for 1 piece of Vanguard legendary item. Today I got a exotic bounty which made me excited... until I reached the part where they want me to play in the crucible. I played two matches and I hated it so much.

1 ReplyI dislike any game that forces me into pvp to do pve content. These exotic bounties being a prime example. Not only that, I dislike pvp on consoles. I want pvp in my games to be completely optional. Yes the bounty is optional, but it starts as pve and then forces you to pvp to finish part of it.

7 RepliesYou are not being forced into PvP whatsoever, you can choose whether you wish to pursue the bounty, nobody is putting a gun to your head. There is no need to have every weapon in the game, there are also enough exotic bounties without PvP driven requirements. I understand your frustration and I respect your opinion on the matter, I just feel that owning certain weapons that 'tell a story' of how you earned them is a neat idea. I love using my Thorn, when others decide to inspect my gear, they'll know I worked my ass off to get it and that feels great. To those who are saying Destiny is PvP driven, please elaborate? With only four core game modes, compared to Halo & other modern shooters that is NOT a lot whatsoever. Also, you can earn rep for other factions by using their marks + farming chests / resources. Trade in 50 resources and you'll gain rep along with 5 marks & some cash.

They have the vanguard gear, if you don't want to do the crucible you don't NEED to do crucible. If you want to get an exotic weapon without pvp i suggest you grind up some strange coins and buy one from xur. The vanguard gear is just as good as the pvp factions gear. If you want the guns or the armor from those factions that is a choice not something forced upon you and by choosing to get the crucible marks for it you are choosing to do pvp.

1 ReplyReason some folks here are complaining about you not liking PvP because it affects their chance of having players to kill. I agree I hate PvP and pretty much will have to just hope for an exotic drop cause I don't want to do the crucible or any bounties/quests that involve it.

The edit is spot on. Why do they want me, a horrible PvP player that absolutely loathes it, in there unintentionally griefing the other players? Nobody wins. I already know that I hate it. My mind won't be changed by forcing it on me.

4 RepliesOk now imagine someone made a forum complaining "don't force PVp player to play pve I hate pve and don't want to be forced into fighting huge enemies that have way to much health and deal to much damage" don't you see how this would be silly? It's half the game if you want to be rewarded for playing the game you have to play it all.

Have my vote game needs huge huge PVE elements installed to become a real mmo shooter as it stands the games wak as hell can't even be bothered to take disc out tray to sell it I'm that bored of it.

1 ReplySome boutiens are pvp only and will always be that way. some rewards are pvp.. the vendors are pvp.. so regardless if you like it or not you will either have to do pvp or do with out those items.

1 ReplyI would agree with you however bungie wants this game to be as challenging as possible so in order for you to achieve a great item you have to fight for it but there is one other option. Bungie could give the option for each player (for when they want to achieve a great item) to either play strike mission(s) or crucible matches to achieve that item. Let me know what you think.

Besides, you don't have to do anything you don't want to. No one is forcing you to play PVP. You can live without that Exotic that you WANT. The current structure encourages everyone to participate in a little bit of everything. And I like it.

If u don't want to do crucible then u don't really need exotic weaponry and vanguard armor is just as good as faction

Preferably have a pve way for doing the bounty and a pvp way. That way you can choose. It would also help if it mentions all the steps.

I feel you, man. I HATE PvP. I want nothing to do with it. I want to stay within the campaign/strikes and not dick around with the Crucible. Just let us PvE players stay in PvE. The PvP requirements for the Exotic Bounties are ridiculous anyway. 10,000 points with 75 points per kill? Or 500 points with 5 per kill and 2 loss if we die? No, that is absurd. I do NOT want to play in PvP.

11 RepliesHaving some PvP restricted gear is fine and all, kinda par for the course with MMO, or in this case MMO-inspired games. But, PvE bounties (in this case exotic bounties) shouldn't cross over and require work in the PvP portion of the game. As has been made clear, there are people who won't touch PvP with a ten foot pole. Without foreknowledge of how exotic bounties work, players can get ****-blocked by the game without warning. It's not fair to those with no interest in PvP, no matter how you try to spin it. There's also the issue with faction gear. You can very easily not touch PvP while boosting your repution with the Future War Cult, New Monarchy, and Dead Orbit factions. But once you hit the rep level required for armor or weapons, you then have to slog through PvP for Crucible marks to purchase gear from them. You can earn faction rep in PvE, but not currency. Something clearly is wrong with how this works.
