Destiny, like all other games (and alcohol), is an acquired taste. Some people out here (believe it or not) actually enjoy farming for stuff, getting together with friends and dicking around doing god knows what for hours on end.
I like Destiny. I like it. I like it a lot. I don't give a damn about the "lack of story" that I seemingly enjoy! I read up on my grimoire, put in some life skills called listening, and I get emerged to the point where I yell when I shoulder charge someone. You know, BECAUSE IT'S FUN.
As far as the sake of fun goes, I give this game a 10/10. It's awesome. If I were to sit back and critique it: maybe a 7. The game has flaws. I get that. We all get that. Sure, I want a chat bar/ proximity chat. Sure, I could do with a few more story missions. Sure, the Cryptarch is the master at trolling. But it doesn't really make or break a game; you do.
Nobody is the master of us or our actions, except for ourselves. If my actions are not symmetrical with yours: Sue me. Kill me. Kick my dog. Slash my tires. Light my curtains on fire. Piss on my pillow. Don't want to? Oh, so you're saying it doesn't really matter that much, that's what you're saying?
I know if this post get comments, a few (if not a lot) of people will call me out, blast this game, and blast me. God forbid I speak my opinion like the rest of you. I know I'll have some supporters out there too, and you guys are awesome. But don't sit there and blast me because my sense of taste is different than yours. You can't fix that. You can state why you don't like it, but it won't change it. I promise.

Honestly, I rarely hear anyone complain about the game play (except in PvP, where they want to nerf everything). Personally, I give the game play a 10/10. It is definitely fun. The rest, though, not so much. 7/10

Yeah, the gameplay is a ton of fun. People say it didn't mesh things together well, but to me the rpg, mmo and FPS aspects are a ton of fun. I wish PvP had some more hardcore modes, but it's a great foundation for the future.

2 RepliesI like you! I agree, 10 for pure fun. I've had so many laughs playing this game. And yeah it could add some stuff to make it better but that will come. Bungie have said Destiny will never be over, it will constantly evolve and grow. I'm looking forward to what comes next. :)

1 ReplyI enjoy this game because I play it the way I wish to play it, and it works well. I'm not a very competitive player either, so I don't get frustrated about anyone but me getting good drops, or doing things their own way. There are a few things I dislike about the game, like the Cryptarch and the sandbag bosses, but there are always those few annoying elements of an MMO that will always be there. Overall, I'm really enjoying myself!

2 RepliesI've been reading through some of my grimoire cards and it does help explain some things. I am onboard with you-- one of my best buds still hasn't bought the game cause "the story." I can't really pitch the story to him without a big plot reveal so you know what Henry huck em says? F*ck 'em. I'm having a great time.

2 RepliesI just don't get it If anyone didn't enjoy something, why wouldn't they stop? If I don't like Pepsi, (and I HATE it), I don't drink it. If I despise those awful gorram tubers called rutebagas, I don't freakin eat em. (and I dont!) If I hate what's on the radio (POP stations, here's looking at YOU!) I change the channel to something else, or put in a CD (bless you mein mutterlund for giving us that which is Rammstein!). It's so simple, so maybe that's the issue. It's just too easy to walk away from things, that folks don't realize they could do it. HOWEVER, I enjoy Destiny. I even like the Cryptarch, because he inspires such hilarious trolling ala Dizcostu007's posts

5 RepliesAw, look around, man. There's tons of posts all about how we love the game. Less than half of the vocal crowd on these forums are hatin' on it. The Titan Shoulder Charge is my favorite thing in the game. I ruin my own K/D spread (in Rumble) routinely because I spend entire matches trying to run people over rather than shooting them. It's so fun. :-) I especially like the airborne "knee-to-face" variant. Nothing more fun than jetpacking up to a window and surprising a sniper by slamming him in the jaw with a swift TIGER KNEE. Yeah, Street Fighter reference. 10 points for Gryffindor. OH! Harry Potter reference. 10 more points.

Truly tried loving this game. After beta, I got over my disappointment pretty quickly, and accepted the game for what it is, not what Bungie had promised. And it is still an ok game. I'm sure I'll be playing on, and off, for a while. (At least until the two dlc's are completed.) But, this morning, I logged in for about 30mins, and just lost the will to continue playing. For me, it's the character, the hook that reels you in that makes or breaks the game. I can't find the character. Maybe it'll be in the dlc. My only reason to play is sadly the same as "Killzone: Shadowfall": I want to play something on the PS4. Hopefully it'll get better with age; but right now, it's a child of a game. (Can I pee on your pillow now? I don't kick dogs.)
