I also have the same problem on my nexus 7 tablet, can't see my guardian only the silhouette. However I can see my guardian on my Galaxy S4 phone.
The app is buggy and needs a lot of improvements I reached out to Deej the Bungie Community Manager via Twitter... But no response....I'm not surprised though...there is no help available in the forum by bungie either.
$500 million to develop this game and yet the game/network is buggy, the app is buggy, no support with the forums geez!!!!! Bungie and you wonder why your customers are upset.

Its activisions fault they made a 10 year contract and gave bungie 20 million dollars for those ten years so they have 20 million dollars for ten years thats not that much
