Bungie ... I would like to apologize ...

I apologize that I am apparently part of the most ungrateful gaming community of my lifetime. I have come to the forum for the last week thinking I would see some positive feedback along with the critical that would help your team improve upon an already great game. What I have found is a site littered with hateful comments and absolutely unreasonable requests. I appologize for being part of a community that seems to be outraged over you not creating the imaginary game we built in our heads. I appologize that we can't appreciate the hard work you did to bring us something new and exciting. That your dedication and late nights away from your families couldn't find room to perfectly cater a game to our individual needs. I am sorry for being part of a world obsessed with what number out of a 10 your game ranks as instead of deciding if it is a game for me. I truly hope when you humans read these terrible comments your are not discourage for what you have accomplished, that you know there are millions like me who are having a blast. For this I want to give a text wall of thank you's. Thank you for not forgetting us who are still on last gen and providing the game across 4 consoles. ( fingers still crossed for a PC version ) Thank you for a smooth launch with such a large project. Thank you for the smooth gameplay and mechanics. Thank you for providing an in depth beta to help me decide if I wanted this game. Thank you for providing a game that I can connect and have the best time with my friends that I have had in a long time. Thank you for your commitment to listen to what we have to say ( good or bad) and promising to commit to bringing us entertainment. I hope that many more are like me are out there and understand what it takes to tackle a project like this and thank you as well. Please keep doing what you are doing and I promise to be patient in seeing where you take us from here.

  • I just want to say thanks to Bungie for what we have right now. I'm enjoying Destiny. Nevertheless, it needs some changes and they said this game will remain in time with updates and expansions, so I'm confident about Bungie's support and their commitment with community. • I agree. I mean sure they could add another person for strikes and make the randomizing better, but I love this game.

    • I get the sense bungie expected this in all honesty they knew that there would be backlash and people not getting the idea straight away, hell I was disappointed with the content at launch and voiced them concerns but have been playing all week and damn it's a great, fun and addictive game ! And to think it will get deeper and better damn I'm down for that sh*t.

    • This. I couldn't agree more. I'm one of the millions enjoying the heck out of this game and I'm patiently waiting for what else bungie has in store for this game in terms of updates and content. Very exciting. Thank you, Bungie. Don't mind the brats, they'll move on to something else to be inconsiderate and childish towards.

Here's one massive circle jerk around bungie... "Here Bungie, let me suck your cock while I can't play the game you've spent $5x10^8 on to make and then blame connection issues on me and my network setup while failing to have actual customer support" Oh, sorry for actually having an opinion, my bad.

        • As much as I understand the frustration with overly negative gamers, I think all of the thanks you gave may be going a bit overboard. Destiny has many very valid criticisms that involve cutting corners and important missing elements. Before I say anything I want to make sure I say that Destiny is a good game and most of the blow back is due to the level of hype and advertisement Bungie cultivated. Measuring against the hype standards it did not deliver at all. But, calling it bad is overlooking it's good qualities out of anger. Firstly, I am always into narrative in games and Destiny's was not good. I wouldn't pay 60 dollars for 25% of a story anywhere else so why should I here. And that 25% was sub par at best. Even if it didn't have a definitive end it needs to make you feel like you have accomplished something. Secondly, the patrol missions are painfully dull and lack any level of depth. Patrolling is a totally dull experience when there is not a social event which when they occur are one of the strengths of destiny. Thirdly, the MMO setting is entirely wasted at this time. No trading, communication, or significant ways of interacting. The tower is almost completely devoid of interaction and as much as I have heard about people helping one another on the maps it has never once happened to me. In fact it is quite the opposite like when you are working on a tough enemy and some other player swoops in just in time to get credit for the kill. Fourthly, the engram system is pointless and comes with a lot of negatives and only one positive which is the fact that you could get a better item than the engram but, I would trade that chance to get an exotic for all of the legendaries that have come out to be nothing. The entire concept seems half baked. Fifthly, there is a total lack of diversity to the strikes and missions. They all have identical tasks except for one or two stand outs and at this time there are only 5 or 6 strikes and one raid. They don't even try to re-skin or mix up the strikes to give the illusion of diversity it is literally just the same strike over and over. Finally, there are a slew of tiny easy fixes that will hopefully be resolved in updates but, it's amazing that they were overlooked or left off to cut corners. For instance the ability to preview any gear but not shaders, the total lack of real value to glimmer, the lack of multiplayer modes, and one of my least favorite aspects is the obviousness of elements which are already built in but being held back for expansions. If this game was a little more expansive I wouldn't mind them holding back but it just isn't. That being said, the strikes they do have are fun, the crucible can be very fun occasionally, and there is a lot of value to loot and upgrades on class and guns. There are also a lot of difficulty settings and the raid will hopefully be a good experience. I like this game and I am having fun but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed. I look forward to the expansions because hopefully the endgame will make everything clear and clean up these issues. So in conclusion thank you Bungie for trying something new and making a fun game but, do yourself a favor and focus more on development and less on the hype machine.

          • I thoroughly enjoy this game, but to go on and say that there is no room for improvement or that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the game is freaking childish. "Just enjoy your video games or don't play" is the message I get from everyone posting in this thread and that is the worst thing to do to someone. Yes there are people who are making ridiculous requests that would take away from the game, but there are many, many more players who just want to see the game be exactly what it's aiming to be, because it's not there yet by any means. That's why there's a feedback forum, so players can make suggestions on how to improve the overall experience. There are literally thousands of players who can't even connect to the game to play it in the first place and Bungie has no form of customer support (they don't listen to us) aside from "Ask these players who are experiencing the same problem". That's not okay and it's definitely not what I would call a smooth launch. Get your head out of their ass.

            • Thank you for being so complacent with a crippled product, your blatant ass kissing will continue to encourage major developers and publishers to release half-baked games... marketing them as massive, online, team-based multiplayer epics and then giving us something where you can't even communicate with anyone outside of your friends list, you have to party up on forums, loot drops have no rhyme or reason and five relatively small areas comprise 90% of the playing experience. Thank you for being okay with, nay, loving a game with barely any content... but where they're happy to sell you $35-40 worth of DLC that's right around the corner. Thanks for pretending you're somehow above all the players who are just as passionate about this game, and want to suggest the things that HAVE to happen for this franchise to experience the longevity we all wanted it to have.

              • It's a fun game for sure. But here's what it isn't. Massive. Or massively multiplayer. Or a role playing game. So basically instead of an MMORPG that we were promised, we got a fun shooter. A 10 hour story, which is generally categorized as underwhelming, some CoD ripoff multiplayer, and, and 99% of the content can only be played with 2 friends. Some form of chat is NEEDED. In game guild support is NEEDED. Looking for group feature is NEEDED. Additional zones for strikes is NEEDED. More raids are NEEDED. Lower level (easier) 6 person raids are NEEDED. Free roam and additional accessible areas would be nice, since that was what we were promised. More variety and customizable options for end game weapons and armor would also be nice, since that is the main feature of any MMO. To have every end game raider equipped with the exact same gear is ludicrous.

                  • There are always going to be good and bad reviews on any game. Personally after following the game since the first announcement I really expected more. I don't expect everything all at once but really once I finished mars in 20 hrs 55 minutes I couldn't help but see the game "Defiance" all over again. Stuck in one small zone for a year with a real lack of content. With the promise of the most expansive world in any game, one area per planet (earth, moon, Venus, Mars) it really lacks coming close to anything that could be considered a gaming world. "Mario"'s 8 levels on the NES had more content. There are many other things that are disappointing to some degree or other and there are other things that I think they really did extremely well but for now I guess this will hold me over till DA3: Inquisition comes out and hopefully the expansions will redeem this one. Still have hope...
