Destiny changed how i see game reviews
i just wanted to say that because of destiny i am officially ignoring game reviews from now on. Yes many of the bad things pointed out by reviewers and players alike are very true(story,repetitive,voice acting,etc). But for me none of those things take away from the fact that attempting alien genocide with a handful of buddies is just so blamin fun! I love the cycle of kill,loot,back to town,reapeat. Iv never played a dungeon crawler(yep,thats what im calling it) that was such a joy gameplay wise(looking at u diablo 3!). So b4 i just keep rambling about why im so hooked on this game,ill just say that iv concluded that formerly trusted review houses dont have my interests and game sensibilities in mind when writing their reviews. Iv never held reviews as the primary factor when deciding to buy a game,but it was a consideration. But now after seeing the almost fervently angry reviews(gamespot,polygon,and escapist in particular) these people clearly are not in line with my interest and their opinions will get 0 consideration in my decision making process in the future.

61 RepliesEnjoy it or not, the game was a huge flop. I hope you bought the $35 expansion pass, so you could actually fully enjoy the game. But seriously though, you're not bothered by the fact there is no diversity throughout the entire game? The fact that every character is basically the same? The fact that you only get 15 hours of repetitive gameplay, and there is no loot actually worth finding? I mean, once you reach level 24 you're not gonna get much better, and since everyone is at that point, it kinda just turns in to another boring call of duty wannabe game. When people like you sit here and defend this garbage, you're only hurting yourself. You're basically saying to the company that it's okay, you don't mind paying out the ass for a game that's not complete, and obviously aimed at squeezing every dime from their consumers. It's ridiculous.

The problem with this game is all the missions are the same. We were misled into thinking Bungie cared enough to use some imagination heck they should have copies from Halo reach missions. Mission diversity is a big disappointment.

My youtube group is actually about to review this game. Three of us with varying opinions. It's interesting to see all the reviews that have come out for it already though. Hopefully we don't follow suit.

2 RepliesWhat reviewers say are true, but I think other aspects of the game make up for it's downfalls. I don't think that it'd be nearly as fun if you didn't have friends to play with. If you cam for the story only, you'd be disappointed.

Gameinformer just weighed in with the highest score iv seen yet( http://www.gameinformer.com/games/destiny/b/playstation4/archive/2014/09/15/destiny-game-informer-review.aspx) and ever1 knos gameinformer = gamestop,and according to activisions number gamestop likely has quite a few destiny copies to unload. Now thats a bit suspect,lol. This definatley bumped there metacritic up a few points.... now there is only ign left with the weight to sway that number

2 RepliesI never cared for official reviews. Nor do I care about Metacritic sites. They are just a chesspool of hate and bickering. Not for just games. For movies it´s even worse. I mean... how many Movies have we seen been burned into the ground by these so called Professional critics? Movies that were great to watch. There is no better reviewer than yourself. Judge a game, Movie, whatever... for yourself. Pretty much all games offer Public betas these days. Giving you an oportunity to try out the game yourself, make up your own mind to decide if you want to buy it or not. One of the main reasons why I have such a blast playing this game currently, is because I ignored all the hype. I myself finally learned my lesson with SW:TOR. Games are much more enjoyable when you ignore the hype and so keep your expectations in check. Just my 2 cents.

16 RepliesOnly issue I have is that the game is clearly made for those who have a lot of friends that also play Destiny on the same console. I don't have that luxury so I'm forced to play by myself. I find it a huge problem on game industry in general that all game companies have started to make games the same way, if you don't have friends to play with your experience is most likely going to suck. Still, would give Destiny at least 7/10

And not only that, Battlefied 4 reviews should of be been enough for you to ignore most reviewers. That game was borderline unplayable for the first few months but has reviewed better than Destiny I believe

1 ReplyThis game is amazing! Honestly it's probably the best game I've ever played! The only thing I'd personally improve is drop rates for time placed into the game or skill level because last time I checked on my console I had over 72 hours spent on Destiny already yet I still haven't got an exotic and I've only found one legendary. The rest of my gear I saved up for with hard earned marks but the fact I can do really well in PvP and get a common item as opposed to someone going 0.3 in PvP and getting a legendary is a little ridiculous. But all in all I love this game and maybe not getting these significant drops is what really keeps me interested because I just keep on the grind!

i totally agree. i found it odd how negative everyone has been towards the game. they keep spitting out the same old negatives (repetetive, voice acting, story) but fail to shed light on its positives (just how fun all that is and its actual variety in alternate actvities), they also fail to mention that almost every freaking game specially MMOs are all repetetive. so why such a big deal now? no originality in reviews these days. basicLly they just feed off each other. or atleast thats what it looks like. this game requires you to WANT to look for the story (grimoire cards) not many reviews even mention that the cards even boost your play experience with actual stats, not to mention the story as well. very shallow reviews so far.

It is not only the reviews ... game scores are also way down - and these are set by actual gamers. You can go add your vote if you like, and hopefully then realize that you are in the minority ... this game sucks.
