This was one amazing post although the one thing that may be conflicted with your theory is how the Traveler gave them sentience. The stranger says she is not of the light yet he is sentient, so were they always sentient to an extent ?

In my theory the Traveler applied that benefit to the race as a whole, not just the guardians that were reforged to wield its power. Turns out that the idea was quite misled. The Exo may have originated from creators that predate humanity.

Their whole bio just said that humans made them in body and mind just like them. They already had true sentience without the aid of the traveler, just shows how advance ancient humans were that they created AI that are basically humans. Look at cayde and eris, cayde is far more humane than she is and he does love teasing her.

It's a possibility, we don't know exactly what went on durin the Golden Age. In my personal belief the Exo came to be around then, but you and I have the same wonder of what happens if an organic and synthetic develope feelings for one another. It is entirely possible since we are dealing with complex emotions here and as you've said and we can all agree, Exo are very capable of having complex emotion and thought, as much as an organic. As for memory, the human brain has the equivalent of about 2.5 petabytes, I'd assume Exo can have around there as "nothing short of a Ghost can understand them"
