Gravity Well? Event Horizon? The Void stuff tends to have to do with black holes and such, after all.
Keep in mind, though - its Void *Light*, so Dark names don't really fit.

Well yeah, but a Void is by definition "completely empty". So going by that, night, or darkness is fitting. Plus it is purple, which makes me think of night, or starlight. Plus, there is Arc and Fire as the other guardian powers, and Void is the darkest of the three. So in this point of view, names that synonimize with night or darkness are very appropriate.

Given the status of Darkness in the game, I'm not so certain of that. I don't recall any "dark" names on either Void tree...

Edited by Blakimus: 9/15/2014 7:55:23 AMGood point. You are correct, "gift of light" is a talent and there is nothing about darkness. Idk dawn derives from our sun, making me think of Fire. I like to think of Void as more of a spacey Nova kind of light.

Meanwhile, most of the other terms I can think of (such as corona, as in Coronal Shield) seem too associated with the sun... Nothing to do with a nova or pulsar really works that I can think of... I'm not sure. That's why I suggested the Black Hole related titles.

It reminds me of a Supernova, which could work well, but Nova Shield sounds... Lame. The main reason I was hoping to change the name was to reserve "of Dawn" for maybe our third tree. Which I had a fantasy of it being an agile tree, much like the hunters blade dancer, called "Sword of Dawn" in which we get a sword like the sword of crota, with Fire powers. But hey, a guardian can dream about the future, can't he?

Why does nothingness have to be associated with darkness. In some cultures, nothingness is the definition of peace!

That is something I have considered. "The Quiet Place", or " Serenity Sphere" come to mind. It is more of a less chaotic type of magic, considering it is used in a defensive manner. I'm still against "Dawn" being used, but I'm 99% sure this post is completely useless, knowing this is the least of Bungies priorities. Hoping it is at least... Its just meant to be fun.
