so does anyone other than me actually LIKE destiny?
So im seeing alot of hate threads but the problem is the game is fine the only problem i have is bungies false promises.
I LOVE this game to death but i wish bungie wouldnt have overhyped it :/
Im still gonna buy all the DLC and expansion after 1 and 2 though (got LE)
So hbu guys? Was anyone smart enough to go into this game without the hyped expectations and like it

The aspect of dodging the hype is the key to happiness with Destiny. I didn't read much into it from the start. I expected a halo type MMO and that's exactly what I got. Yes the story dialogue is bland, but there is a lot of people who just hit the A or X button on cutscenes anyway. I enjoy it. I'm a level 23 warlock and I plan on completing my subclass then starting another character! It's pure fun. And for people complaining about legendary armor and weapons...it's legendary for a reason. There not just gonna hand it out! It is aggravating getting that color engram and it just being a note of light though lol

I expected the game to be lame and was pleasantly surprised I don't know what everbodys problem with it is its not the best game ver but it is still a very good game

I love it. I've been no-lifing it since the night of release but I can understand the problems people are having with it. Playing the same strikes over and over again can get tedious and PvP isn't very fun to me anymore. The story wasn't good, I stopped paying attention early on. Otherwise, it's incredibly fun and addicting, just probably not GoTY material.

Its true it was totally overhyped, the game is still a masterpiece and has A LOT of potential. Mark my words, in 5 months the Destiny we actually play will be very different. The pvp will be way more balanced, the loot drops more accurate to your class, more content, etc.

I still think the story could have been better and there are some things that can be improved, but I'm satisfied it's a fun game.

1 Reply"Destiny" is great. I love it. Some of the hate is understandable. The always on-line requirement is a troubling trend, and I empathize with anyone who bought the game only to realize the disc is useless without an internet connection. The in-game story is lacking, but that's not a justification for hate. Lots of great games have no story or worse, a terrible story that churns your stomach. (I'm looking at you, COD BLOPS II). Remember how the original "Mass Effect" had a great story and clunky third person shooting? "Destiny" has the opposite problem. We forgave "Mass Effect" for its foibles and we should similarly cut "Destiny" a little slack.

I think the game rocks an how can you say how they over hyped it? Doesn't even make sense we the gamers hype it up bungie isn't go around an paying every gamer to play it. They made 2 commercials boom over hype? Lots an lots of people love the game not even half use the forums an the other half are playing not on here. ;)

Bungie has done a lot right with it, and I'm excited to see how they support it moving forward. I feel like the more you read about the game leading up to release, the more appropriate your expectations probably were. Does anyone feel the same? For me, I knew what to expect based on weekly updates and other articles about Destiny, so I got [i]exactly[/i] what I expected (and much more)! I really hope Bungie doesn't take it too seriously (obviously some considerations on the business side) because I think plenty of players love it.

1 ReplyIt was hard to ignore the hype (actually, pretty damn near impossible), but I'm not disappointed in the end product. Well, maybe I am just a tad with the whole "get 5 friends on board for our big raid" thing, because that can be a little difficult to manage for some of us. But as is I'm on my third character, replaying the same story and crucible missions (with slight differences due to weapon load-out and special abilities), and I'm still having a blast. I love this game, and I hope over time the Destiny universe expands (at least story-wise) to the point where people stop hating on it just because, and actually appreciate the game for the fun it is and can be.

I'm loving the game. I think it was a bit overhyped but then again everything is in today's gaming journalism. I think the main issue is everyone had a different ideas of what Destiny was going to be. I haven't had this much fun with a game in a while. My only gripe is the lack of story in-game.

I love this game, I'm actually really surprised to see so much negative feedback. I think taking this game slow is the key to enjoying it. Plus the whole social aspect is really nice! Even if your friends aren't on, just jump in a Strike mission and now you have 2 compadres to play for a while with. Let's not forget how stunning the graphics are in this game. Even the hype met my expectations, idk. I will agree, more weapon options and stealthy melee moves could have been added. Overall it's stupidly addictive.
