Everyone doesn't hate Destiny because its new and different. People are complaining about it because it failed to deliver on what it promised: a deep, rich world with an epic story to tell and interesting characters to guide you. And what we got was an empty shell of a world with a poor story, cardboard characters and repetitive, meaningless objectives.

Everyone does not hate it. I really enjoy it, but its not the 2nd coming of video games, either. Its a shooter/RPG/MMO hybrid that is a very light mmo

sooooooooooooooooo repetitive. Once you beat the campaign you kinda of get that "oh, well not much of a story there. thats kinda cool I guess." And I can see how they are trying to spice things up with raids and what not but all raids will probably be the same but with different bosses. I really think Destiny could have done much better as for as the story line goes, im level 17 and I hardly has a grasp on what was going on. And the Crucible if fun, only that if you dont have a gun with good damage or high fire rate it's extremely unfair for you. Im actually quite disappointed in how Destiny was made.

As somebody that played WoW from day one, I can always see people's impatience at games. Destiny is amazing, it's the first game in a long time to bring me back to console. That's not to say it is without it's flaws but the problem with console players (coming from the mind frame of a PC player) is that they forget that games like this can and WILL be updated. Take WoW for example, it's a completely different game now to what it was over 9 years ago. Constant gradual updates has improved it into the behemoth it is now. And the same will apply with Destiny. They've released the base (which is immense) and will build upon that. The only thing that is slightly annoying me is the non-matchmaking system for Raids. I personally don't have 5 other mates on 360 anymore (everyone has upgraded to next gen) but I'm moving to another country in December and therefore haven't bothered buying next gen. Without the ability to do Raids this game won't last me the 3 months I was hoping it will do. Why am I not in love with Destiny? Well let me tell you it has nothing to do with it being "different"! The problem is that it is trying to be too many things, but failing to do anything that made those other games great or special, as well as lacking any new ideas that makes Destiny special. [LOADING...] So it wants to be a looter like borderlands... except none of the stuff you find is really ever worth it. None of the weapons or armor you find feels special, or awesome. That might change at higher levels, somewhat, but there is something to be said about hitting the ground running. [LOADING...] It wants to be a mmo, but it lacks all the social features, guild/clan hubs, in game economy, dungeons, crafting, and huge maps typical of them as well. I never have to interact with anyone, and even if I want to, its a pain to do so. Invite system to parties is broken, why does it need to reload the game if we are already on the same map? And as for the game world, They don't leave you too much to explore. The story missions send you to most of the major places, the same things always happen at the same spots on the map. Sure, there are little spots here and there for you to explore, but its not substantial. Most MMO's and RPG's usually have large maps, with areas for parties to explore on their own, with neat stuff to find. Me and my friends have explored the Moon and Russia thoroughly, and have found nothing even close to that. [LOADING...] [LOADING...] So you want to craft a game based around social experiences? Bungie had their work cut out for them, considering that console gamers are notoriously anti-social. So its good that Bungie implemented zero features outside of a dance button! Lastly, it also wants to be an fps, and while it succeeds best here, even then there are glaring flaws. The PvE it WAY too repetitive, I haven't even finished the story missions yet and I'm sick of it. And as for the "PvP", it's basically the same game mode. It's all slayer, with a few distractions thrown in that don't really matter. For instance, you can win a control game without holding any points. For a company that helped pioneer game modes like oddball, capture the flag, king of the hill, and race, it's sad to see such a lack of game modes. All together, it's an above average shooter with below average mechanics. [LOADING...] Some people are complaining that the story is bad or nonexistent. I'm okay with a lack of story, a game where I just play it and the story comes from what happens to me and my friends. Awesome! But that's not what we got, is it? The world is not dynamic like Bungie said. The same events happen at the same spots. the same missions too. Nothing changes, its all like clockwork. And that's fine too, just give me some variety with missions -but we don't even have that. Hopefully, Bungie adds on frequent content (maybe weekly) to make up for the lack there of. Destiny lacks any originality, and instead wants to be a game that is like a mash up between Guild Wars 2, Warframe, Borderlands, and Halo, yet forgets to add what makes these games awesome. Even if you disagree with everything I have said, let me ask you this: This game has been in development for over 6 years, do you really feel like you are looking at a game that took 6 years to make?

Destiny is not a new game, it's not one of a kind, or different. It's actually lowered the bar compared to some other games that have come out earlier. From the sounds of it. Borderlands has more story to it.. and you know what? I actually get that story by playing the game. Not by reading it off the web with my smartphone. Oh and you know what? Borderlands lets me run around in a group of 4 instead of 3. Also, There are no limitations to certain content requiring me to have to absolutely play with people on my "friends list only" for certain content like 'Son of Crawmerax' or however you spell it. Borderlands doesn't try to treat portions of it's community like second class citizens, because they don't want to get initimate with randoms just to play a game for a few hours. The Requirment Bungie put on Raids, basically says. "Add randoms from the internet to your friends list. Learn their names, what they like to eat, what their daily schedules look like, maybe go out to dinner once or twice, etc. Just to play a raid for a few hours one day. Because I'll tell ya what. Once I'm done raiding with one group of 5. I don't want to attempt it again with that same group of 5. I'd rather have a new group of 5 players to attempt it with. Otherwise. THE GAME IS -blam!-ING BORING! Players are what provide my "Variety" Internet gaming, that's what it is all about. Millions of players = LOTS OF VARIETY "Uhhh... we're gonna limit you to just a handful of players out of the millions possible, if you want to attempt this content.... cause we're like dumb, and totally forgot the whole point of what internet gaming is all about" - Bungie

So, why Microsoft just paid 2 500 000 000$ for Minecraft franchise? Are they crazy? Also, what part of Destiny is original? Bungie's fanboys should give more attention, to what other people are saying. People don't hate Destiny because it's original (because it's NOT), but because it's boring and Activision/Bungie really overhyped their mediocre game.

This game was so disappointing! I loved halo and had high hopes for destiny, as i'm a hardcore bungie fan, so when i first started playing destiny I thoroughly enjoyed it. It started off fairly mysterious and I thought, "Great, they'll fill this in later with backstory, cutscenes and interactive NPCs." Oh how wrong I was. It just lurches from one made-up technical term to another inbetween cardboard cutout characters. I'm looking at the box right now and reading, "Destiny is a next generation first person shooter, with rich cinematic storytelling set in huge worlds to explore." Well, it's certainly a next generation first person shooter, in which the actual gameplay itself is enjoyable, shooting stuff with the various different guns and powers is great. Rich cinematic storytelling? Certainly not! I've watched about 7 cutscenes in the whole story so far and i'm one mission off the end. I've read a lot of people on here saying that I should read the grimoires and wait for bungie to release more content, but why should i have to go on bungie.net to have a clue what the heck is going on in this game? And what could bungie possibly do in a further update that could fix the entire campaign, adding more backstory and narrative with actual meaningful purpose? This game promised so much in terms of the epic story we'd unfold through hours of unique missions and interactions with in-depth characters, but has not delivered in the slightest. P.s: Where on earth is the matchmaking for weekly strikes? It's impossible to just find people to play with on the tower and i'd feel guilty recommending this half made game to friends at a cost of £45. This is something that CAN be sorted so I hope bungie do!

Destiny is like defiance (defiance is closer to an mmo than destiny) period. Destiny is a multi player online game. It is not massive period. It takes $$$ to run servers for an mmo, you guys are paying not paying that kind of money to demand mmo style game play. Bungie has no experience with this style of game and I expected them to fail, which they did for all intents and purposes, but I still enjoy the game.

The people at Bungie spend a lot of time working on this most of them have families too but chose to work on this game so they could get it out to us.
