Both PlayStation and Xbox offer refunds on preorders if you cancel before the game is released. Call their customer service line, then buy digitally on your last gen console for the free upgrade.

 • I contacted sony yesterday and they denied my request to cancel my ps4 preorder (I'm in North America) a real shame I might have to buy it again to play with my last gen freinds

 • Sorry, I saw a post that had instructions on how to do it but it turned out later on that it was for customers in Europe. Apparently PlayStation only offer refunds where they are legally obligated, which means Xbox is not legally obligated in North America either, but they still do refunds. I think Sony should rethink this.

 • I agree, this is very greedy on sony's part

 • Sony only does cancellations "where required by law". North America isn't one of those places, so once you pre-order you're charged immediately and cannot cancel.

 • Good to know, I read another forum member's post and thought it was for everyone. I cancelled my Xbox One preorder with Microsoft with no issues in Canada and they charged my credit card the day I preorder it. If I preorder anything from Sony I'll wait until the last possible moment in case there are announcements like this. Thanks for letting me know.

 • Yeah, Sony sort of sucks that way. I basically never pre-order anything digitally except digital only games, I still prefer physical especially when you can get pre-order discounts during the E3 sales at Amazon, FS/BB, etc. I'll end up paying about $50 for the PS4 version thanks to Amazon's E3 discounts, while Sony would be charging me the full $70 price.

 • Here's a post from another forum member, does this work?
Guys you can cancel your ps4 preorder (if you haven't been charged yet) To do so: 1. Visit www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com 2. Sign in, and on the top-right expand. 3. Click account 4. Click transaction history 5. From here, you need to find the date you preordered the ps4 on. Once found, click it, at the bottom there will be a button that says "cancel preorder" For the store to recognise your cancellation, close the tab and re-open. Go ahead and preorder on PS3. :)
