They could have done all those things (GameFly, check reviews, borrow from a friend, etc.) without committing to a pre-order.

People, such as myself, preordered the game after seeing the e3 presentation. I slapped five bucks down at best buy--refundable. Signed up for the alpha and got in. Loved it. Registered my beta code and played the beta, loved it. Then when they came out with the digital deluxe on PSN I bought the game for me and my boy. It was AFTER the beta all the slow trickle of info came out about how small the game was. (Granted that remains to be seen.) In America on PSN you don't get a refund. Now you can say buyer beware and I won't argue. I don't feel like I am going to get the game I thought I was buying. Had I not bought the digital I would hold on to the preorder and read the board for a few days then pick it up. Truth is the game may be better than the game I thought I was buying-- I'm holding out hope.

As he clearly stated the problem isn't cancelling your pre-order, it's somehow wearing the fact you cancelled your pre-order as a badge of honor, no one cares, why announce to everyone you cancelled your pre-order? Do they want us to beg them not to?

I don't know, lots of people demonstrate their displeasure with products by saying something sucks, returning it to the store, switching brands and then posting it on FB, Instagram or wherever. Not really different.
