Exploring the Last City

Is anyone else hoping that we will someday be able to visit the Last City somehow? I had visions of walking through the city to find my favorite shady vendor, pushing my way past citizens in various states of existence, from poverty to wealth; experiencing the sense of desperation and hope displayed through the medium of architecture, the contrast of poorly constructed shacks surrounding the perimeter of the City with the skyscrapers of the densely populated center, of sound, hundreds of people talking, haggling, shouting, and other sounds which cities make, of citizens walking by, lounging around, talking with vendors, buying food, etc., of art, whether graffiti scrawled on the side of a shop, or statues and fountains adorning the governmental headquarters of the city. I had hopes of knowing that which I was protecting, of knowing those for whom I fought, of feeling that it was all for something and worth something. The tower really is an Ivory Tower, from which the city is seen only as an Idea. The Speaker tells of frightened children; who sees their fear? Who walks among them and smells the bitter tang of uncertainty and waiting, feels the snap of tension from the seething mass of humanity which depends solely upon you for their continued existence; and who extends their hand to quell their fear, to calm their hearts and show them that We are here, and We are fighting for them? I dearly wished to explore the city for that reason... After all, why did I become a Guardian?

4 RepliesI'm pretty sure they said in an IGN interview that there would be 4 "maps" of the last city. One of which would be on the other side of the wall

2 RepliesI just wonder if we were people or machines the people of the city once knew. Loved ones or ancestors from the past, both sad and frightening to behold walking around amongst the "normals" in the streets. Would we be welcomed or feared?

4 RepliesI really hope so. If I recall, probably incorectly, when bungie showed the first trailer and game play. They had their gaurdian on the edge of a cliff in old russia looking out at the scenery saying,"you can explore everything you see, its not just art." Maybe that never happened or I was dreaming, but I have to admit, a little spot in my heart died when I played the beta :/... Still a really great game that I can not wait to play on release though.

24 RepliesI also wanted this. I expected to have a houses in the city. Hell even have a family to see. I'd go to them after a long day of fighting. Eat with them and tell them story's of my adventures. Aspire my kids to become guardians. I'd take them to bed and sleep.with my Exo lover. XD. Be able to walk out in the morning and get breakfast for them. Then off to the stars. Getting a cab to fly to the tower or fly my own car. Also have an animal buddy. Walking with me into the wild. There's a lot I wanted from destiny but its not there.

30 Replieswhat i want is actually impossible i want a game where my character matters to the world and isnt tied down to the developers stories. i want to go out in space with my own beginning middle and end. but have other players interact with my story and so on. i want to be able to start a family and protect them. or go out and work for companies. or make my own company that makes guns etc i want to be able to do what i want. i want to drive space ships and cars, land in docking bays. i want to be able to drive hover cars around the cities, go into street races, or just go out and fight crime. i want so much, i want my character to sleep, eat and be able to do things more then just shoot people or be a bad ass assassin. i want to be able to have my story effect the world,i want to be able to take over planets, command armies of people both players and AI. to take over galaxies to create my own technology with in the world. to make my own robots etc. maybe I'm crazy and am the only one that wants this. but all i want is a game where i can do what i want and it matters. become who i want and just craft my own story not just through my actions but the players that come long with me. i want to have a beginning a middle and a end. i want the end to end bc i went down that path. ether i have become a war lord or an hungry business man. either i die at the end or keep going. or be a man out for revenge looking for the player that killed my family. wanting him to be my main enemy. maybe i'm crazy but this is what i want.

3 RepliesOn zone per planet, the concept art for Old Chicago, the last city, Europa, derelict spaceships orbiting Saturn, the Twilight Gap, Mumbai and much more were all fro show I guess. Everything I listed will most likely be pushed to the sequel or require you to buy the DLC. Real disappointed in only one zone per planet.

i feel as if destiny is more of a tech demo for the future games in the franchise and that they are showing us what they can do, where they want to take us on this adventure and setting up a huge story for the game. Bungie already said its the same game across all platforms and that was and is really important to them, bearing in mind the amount of last gen players they are expecting. I also guarantee they had the same ideas but gaming tech isn't available to build everything that you guys want, it's an enthusiastic mmo on consoles that does look like it's going to be an amazing game and i'm sure they will be implementing near enough everything people have thought up on this thread. The maps are already huge and i don't see why everyone is slating them for not including everything in concept art, that concept art is most likely from their ideas of the entire franchise not just this game.
