Who was this dude to tell her what was inappropriate or not?
Clearly this issue was enough to upset her. And if this was a scholarly environment your professor was right to dock points from you. It is completely disrespectful to laugh even if you disagree or think a presentation is far fetched. Laughing merely speaks to immaturity.
Have you ever been told by a complete stranger your apparel was inappropriate?
Considering girls are legitimately being removed from class over dress codes that are blatantly unfair towards girls. I.e a bra strap "distracts boys" only shows that the school system values his education over hers. I remember I was sent out of class for having a small hole in the knee of my jeans, while a guy sitting next to me had a muscle shirt on with no sleeves that was ripped down to the waste.

Who cares? The man had a right to express his opinion - whether or not you agree. Whaaaa, somebody told me they don't like my clothing! Get the hell over it, that's life. If she's upset by the simple, forgettable opinion of a stranger who'll forget her in the next 5 minutes, she's going to give herself a hard life.
-
Oh no, he could have voiced his disagreeing opinion if he wanted... In a thoughtful manner through argumentation and debate, as you should in any academic environment. Laughing it off is a huge sign of disrespect and in most classes where a discussion is being had, you will be docked points for such a display.
-
I was more referring to the man that told the girl he didn't like he she dressed, but a fair point I suppose about the OP. Though I would probably have been laughing at both the OP and the girl if I was there.
-
And here I am wearing a school uniform with a tie. I'm going to miss the tie.
-
I agree.
-
Hilarious, an allusion to -blam!- jokes. Bravo, you're a grade a scumbag
-
You think this was a -blam!- joke? Jesus, what is wrong with you? This was a joke about mugging.
-
It is alluding to the campaign where -blam!- victims come forward to display what they're wearing because people often insinuate the deserved what they got due to their apparel.
-
On a serious note, what if you applied something like this where race was the variable instead of sex? Hypothetically, how do you think the situation would be handled?
-
You asked for it.

I agree, however be warned people will attack anything on (b.net). Also to everyone below, my reply remember the saying (treat others how like to be treated). Basically if just going slam their opinion then why post at all. Also never feed trolls they will to the bridge eventually.

Im gonna make some shorts kinda like a bra that lifts my balls and puts them on display. Ladys gonna love my ball cleavage and theyll just have to deal with it or else theyre sexist pigs.
Male version of what you just said.
-
no, your example is flawed at the core it expected that ladies where something like a bra. which are very obvious when used but, some can't even help but to show cleavage. what suggested as a example would be like me saying(for buff men never to show any muscle under clothing). Also go ahead wear that around, last I checked free country.
-
I could argue all night about how the social rammifications of your mindset that "We should get what we want and everyone else can just deal" is a naive, childish view of the world that, if everyone shared, would lead to anarchy. Some people want to be naked, some want to be clothed. The concept that everyone should be free to do as they please as long as its your way is a pardox in and of itself. But Im done here, enjoy your pseudo--godwinslaw!- endeavor to unite all human kind by removing every other way of thinking different from your own.
P.S. Your understanding of what a forum is was betrayed by the post above mine so I will enlighten. A forum is a place one can go to OPENLY and FREELY speak on matters. A place where an open dialogue and debate is held to express personal ideology on any subject where any person can express THEIR PERSONAL view of a subject Just so you dont get confused and ask why people have a different opinion than yours. Good day.
I'm sorry but everyone is in control of themselves and are responsible for themselves. If you wanna wear a banana hammock go for it you know what I'll do? Not look at you, or tell you you're fabulous before snapping a pic. I'm mature enough to handle the strangeness and vulgarity the world has to offer. I won't tell you what you're wearing is inappropriate, I won't even tell you to change. You are an autonomous being in charge of you're own fate. If you're fate involves the intricate construction and wear of supports for your tackle and daddy bags I'm 100% ok with that.

Well guys aren't aloud to wear sleeveless shirts.

Sorry, I'd rather be on the side with boobs on it than dicks.
-50/10 You'll have to do better neckbeard sympathizer
>gets upset when someone calls a girl a slut >calls a guy a neckbeard Hypocrisy at it's finest.

I once got slapped by a Hooters waitress because she came to my table, chatted everyone up working the tips and she started talking about how she shouldve worn a different bra and started bouncing on her feet to show us. I merely made the eloquent and tactful statement, "MY GOD!!! THOSE JUGS ARE JUMPIN LIKE 2 PUMPKINS IN A BOUNCE HOUSE WITH A FAT GUY!!!"....#SLAP Women huh?
-
Should have filed assault charges. They want to be treated equally? Here's equality. Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you. It's just a two-way street.
-
1/4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. And 93% of the time women are murdered it is by someone she knows. Hitting women isn't equality, hitting anyone isn't equality. That needs to stop, it's just assault. But as an individual you have to realize what you say and do may elicit harsh responses from others and be prepared for them. Don't blame women for a society that views men as being tough and macho who should be able to take hits and women who are "inherently weak". Feminism is for equality, and fair treatment.
-
Feminisim used to be for equality and fair treatment.
Fixed that for you.
-

Feminisim is for equality and fair treatment.
Fixed that for you.
Fixed. You seem like one of those guys who thinks feminism is only about women over turning men and warping society into a matriarchy. What the -blam!- are you afraid of? Do you actually realize how badly women are treated and fear the same? The only feminists who believe that are TERF feminists and they're just assholes. Like Christianity there are many different denominations. The core values are the same regardless but that doesn't stop some from ignoring them and relying strictly on their own interpretation.

Edited by SunnyZaBunny: 8/27/2014 4:26:58 AMthere's a difference between slut shaming and being called a neckbeard. Most people if called a neck beard on the street would have no idea what the hell you're talking about. Calling someone a slut has definitive and widespread derogatory meaning that everyone understands.
