So I've been hearing whispering a that playstation was attacked with DDOS recently ? And it has been causing problems with PSN, I'm a xbox user but I hope you guys have none of these issues on destinys launch. Hopefully we can finally push out the consoles fan boys on both sides xbox and Playstation and get some destiny game time in, I'm expecting to see a lot of of discoveries (like rare loot drop locations) from both community's.

It would be hilarious if PSN went down on Destiny's launch. I can only imagine the Desticle's reactions.

Edited by ashdelete: 8/27/2014 10:43:23 AMWhat I thought was weird was that Xbox Live got DDOS'd as well (also battlenet and others), but every site had the headline as 'PSN Taken Down by Hackers'. I reckon it must be because of the history of PSN and hackers, and the news sites figured they'd get more clicks if they tried to rattle that bees nest instead of reporting all the facts equally. Damn clickbaiting journalists!

It was performed by the lizard squad(no joke -blam!-ing lizard squad lol) and they wanted to make a statement saying how so much money sony has that they don't have big enough servers to withstand a ddos attack. But in reality, even the biggest servers in the world can't survive a ddos attack because ddos attacks is like spamming the servers with invites over and over again and eventually the server won't be able to handle it. Plus to be more of asshole they put a bomb threat on an airline on it's way to LA and the flight immediately left it's course and landed in Las Vegas....
-
Is it still happening? I get random psn errors.
-
Also no matter what PSN will be slow as -blam!- on launch day because everyone will cram the servers so I will wait for about a day or two
-
Yes psn, blizzard, microsoft and a lot of others got hit by the ddos attack. I think psn got hit the hardest from what i read. But a lot of companies and users were affected.

Edited by IRIE ROBBER: 8/28/2014 8:58:33 PMHope it does happen 9/9 for them, serves them right. Edit: I purchased a ghost edition so don't fret over what I'm buying. Looks like you Neanderthals get butthurt when we talk about your fragile network crashing. Anyone that thinks lizardsquad DDoS'ed PSN just proves that they are also dumbasses, it was @famedgod... Don't get me wrong I'm not mad you get "exclusive" stuff (I get it later..), you can keep the armor and guns we don't get since you will probably need it more. When I go to my home town I do play PSN on my brothers ps3 and you all are terrible. Go ahead and put your rage comments below here, I won't take the time to read your nonsense since I got better stuff to do like go outside...

People called the Lizard squad are claiming responsibility.
-
We can always hope.
-
Thanks for the wishes of good will, hope the Destiny launch goes well over on Xbox as well.
-
Haha just so you know xbox and ps got hit not just one Research more befor you post
-
Blizzard also got hit afaik and another company as well
-
There are no rare loot drop locations. The only loot drops that have a set item are the Gold Chests. Everything else is random.

Sony is just being extra cautious. The latest round was nothing to be worried about. I never had an issue on PSN all weekend. Only "PSN" issues I had were not being able to log in here. #gogointernetexagerationmachine

I think the DDOS was done by a group (can't remember their name) that tweeted out to sony telling them that they should fix their service and protect their owners. They told Sony that they have sold a lot of units and that the money from those units should go back into protecting their users not all to themselves. It was a wake up call. The group didn't do it as a joke they are serious about the service that Sony should provide to their users on PSN. And I am a playstation owner and I agree they should buff the security on their network. And I know that some xbox players will respond saying "serves you PS players right!!" But in all honesty this warning is to both Microsoft and Sony letting them know that they have a duty to the customer not just their money

Edited by Elegize: 8/27/2014 11:19:00 AMDon't worry. I can speak for a lot of Playstation gamers (not all of course) when I say: We know most of the Xbox community are fine people.

Holy -blam!- if you're not kidding, I think I just felt the ground get colder because Hell just froze over. I'm glad to see that someone who doesn't care about the console war post on these forums, it's a refreshing change of pace and I thank you. From a PS user to an Xbox user, thank you, Guardian. To me, you're already brave.
-
Lol rare loot drop locations it doesn't work like that it's not skyrim. Play on hard and the game gives you guns when you cant beat the scenario effectively. That's all it is
-
I'm an xbox user too and it wouldn't suprise me in the slightest if it was a group of our own that did the attack
-
Lol nope. At launch all the fanbots are still gonna get on, put there mic down there throat, and screech homophobic slurs until their bedtime of 8:30. Welcome to gaming
-
Whisperings? It was on the front page of the Monday edition of USA Today. "Hackers Target Sony Networks again."
-
It happened, but there are no continued issues. People are just senseless and don't know what a scheduled maintenance is.

Edited by The Pope 138: 8/27/2014 2:12:31 PMI'm hoping for a smooth launch for all! Each faction has their share of jerks. It comes down to the type of person you are. Those jerks would be jerks no matter what console they play on.
-
No doubt its xbone users doing the DDoS
-
Whisperings? It made national news, although the implied bomb threat to John Smedleys commercial flight probably helped that along.
-
I'm not worried. They were down for less than a day. The twitter of the group responsible painted them as children just desperate for attention.
