This particular incident was racially driven, but segregation itself in these cases has little to do with it. For instance, there's a bar on the outside of town that houses the local Warlock biker community. All the locals know of it. And new people to the area are warned to stay clear of the place. If I were to walk in and order a beer, my ass whipping wouldn't have anything to do with my color. It would be due to my stupidity of ignoring the bounds these guys established.
