By your description, it sounds to me like you already have an alternate sign-in method, and are familiar with the linking/unlinking procedure (please correct me if I'm wrong). Perhaps your best bet might be to delete your cookies and clear your cache, if you haven't tried that already.

In most browsers you can use SHIFT-ALT-DEL to get access to browsers cached data, including cookies. Once you clear the cookies be sure to restart the browser. The linking FAQ link from UphillMercury should give you the other information you need.

You can normally delete your cookies and cache via clearing the browser history, and selectively deleting the cache and cookies. The exact process varies by browser.
