Destiny will require an internet connection and xbox live gold to play. There is no offline mode.
Visit destinythegame.com and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page. Below all of the legal information is the statement "An internet connection is required to play Destiny."

ok ...thank u for putting the debate at rest... i feel bad now ..for i was hoping outhers like me could be able to play it offline . i only had xbox gold for awell but..... thank ..i might have to cancel my pre order then.. I kinda wish they told people who did not know so..they did not have to waste there money. like they did to those who pre order titan fall with out know... but thank u very much for telling
