Destiny was recently announced as "The Most Pre-Ordered New IP in History."
Here are the numbers by platform(as of August 2nd, 2014):
Total on Playstation: 691,246
PS4: 592,955
PS3: 98,291

Total on Xbox: 688,587
XB1: 486,440
360: 202,147

Grand Total:1,379,833
Despite Destiny primarily being marketed to the Playstation player base and PS4 drastically outselling the Xbox One, the difference in preorders(as of 8/2/2014) is small. Why is this?
It's important to note that these numbers only represent the United States.
Discuss.
Edit: Added a grand total.

Edited by Randy Shibai: 8/15/2014 6:16:42 AMDid you guys see the numbers for the established IP known as Call of Duty? XBone :D - 62,608 XB360 - 68,564 PS4 - 44,646 PS3 - Not even top 40 That is what you call a flop. And before you start throwing the half billion number around, that's a number indicating the investment cost over a ten year period. That's a 50 million per year investment. At 41,474,760 for presale numbers, pre taxes, not factoring in LE and GE for Sony and 41,315,220 for presale numbers, pre taxes, not factoring in LE and GE for Microsoft this could hardly be called a flop, not even close. Also, don't forget that presale don't account for total sales. Try harder, bud.
