The way I gather, like the rest of the HUD, the shield color is interpretation by Ghost transmitted to you with the intent of improving your effectiveness. How would you know that enemies use SPECIFICALLY arc, solar, and void energies? The descriptions of these seem to attune to the fact that they are Traveler-based elements. We don't even know how the Traveler's elements work with the correlated true element. In other words, the shield color is shown on the screen as a message telling the Guardian what element TO USE, rather than what the shield element is.

  • Unless there's something in the game to confirm, a new player is not going to think that's what's going on.

  • It's not entirely confusing, in fact it seems a bit more simple. Match color to color. As opposed to "match color to different color", it seems like a less complicated solution. One thing I do wholly agree on is that the shields and their damage bonus NEEDS an in-game explanation. I've played enough Warframe to know that keeping the info on wikipedia and youtube is a BAD idea.

  • Yes color coding them makes it more convenient for the player, but realistically the enemy isn't going to color code their shields and having a shield that doesn't match their attacks sometimes looks out of place to me. Also unlike Warframe, we're only dealing with 3 elements, not 4 elements, their combinations, and all the different armor types that those elements are used against.
