SHOW BUNGIE WE DO NOT WANT A TRADE SYSTEM

No I don't want a trade system

Yes I want a trade system

Destiny is without a doubt the best game I've ever played, you guys have nailed it. There is only one thing that could cheapen this amazing game and potentially turn players away ... a player to player trade system. Bungie community, join me and speak up about this pressing issue that has the potential to cheapen this stunning game. Do you value the hard work it takes to earn cool gear? Or do you not value the hard work it takes? "Become Legend", this tag line says it all. It insinuates that you will work to develop your character and thus work towards becoming a legend. We don't want to trade so that we look like a legend. The way the gear looks in destiny is stunning. When you see someone cruise past you in the tower with a sweet piece of gear, you know he's worked to achieve it. That is an amazing feat for a game developer, to create such awesome looking kit that everyone wants. If Bungie implement a player to player trade system this will be meaningless. The whole experience of earning something special is cheapened. To think that a noob who's played for a week and hit 20 could be given gear from his highly experienced and dedicated mate is a sad thought. All of a sudden the last two months I spent earning that same piece of gear are worthless. The pride I had for my equipment, lost. There are many of us who experienced this on games like World of Warcraft, Borderlands and Diablo and felt that it ruined the game. So much that I stopped playing games that I used to love. I would like to quote a few bungie developers from the video "out here in the wild" in the hope that if enough people vote on this, if our voice is strong enough, we can get bungie to make a firm stance against a trade system. Christopher Barrett, art director "the number one priority was to make a world that people wanted to be in, something that you want to go back to and you want to explore". If there is a trade system it will cheapen the game and people will lose excitement about going back and exploring. Luke Smith, design lead "you're going to see a guy wielding the cudgel of zanthor or the fate of all fools or whatever crazy names the writers come up with for these weapons and armor, you're going to understand where they came from and what they went through to get there". Man does this quote sum up my argument. With a player to player trade system we will NOT understand what anyone has been through to get their gear. In fact, we won't even know how long they will have been playing the game. *Edit: A lot of great counter arguments have been made on this post and I should clarify. I am certainly not opposed to a well done trade system e.g. if items could only be traded for equal level items, or include a BOA or BOP system for high tier gear. I was referring to the AH and gold trading/farming/selling with WOW. The item giving and duping in Borderlands. I should have been more specific and not so general and I didn't realise this post would attract so much attention. I still strongly believe that any system where people can give loot or trade for glimmer or parts would be bad idea. But if done right, a trade system would be great. SECOND EDIT: a lot of people are complaining about the "terrible loot system", just FYI they DID just say they're patching tha said system. We have to see the changes that come out of it. Also the game hasn't even been out for three weeks!!!!!! To me it's expected in a game like this that you have to play for ages to get good loot. 3 weeks is nothing.

    • You can't look like legend when everyone has access to all of the exotics for a cheap price. The only thing that is unique is a handful of exotics and raid gear.

I wouldn't mind a trading system, but not a broken one. You want an exotic? Sure as long as it was never equipped by anyone. That could be one way to do it and make players still have to earn things. By making you still have to gather resources to upgrade it would keep it a tad level. Keep it to gear and weapons only as well. Those items you gave to gather are bound to the character who gathered them. We have only one TV and one gaming platform and my husband had played the most leaving me in the dust and him with a bank full of exotics he doesn't use, and has never used just sitting in his vault gathering dust. If only there was a way I could get my hands on them ;)

    • At this point in time the loot system is so random there should be a trade system.

    • This game is literally completely luck based past level 28. You have absolutely NO GUARANTEE that you will ever get any raid weapons or gear EVER. Granted, I myself have gotten lucky as hell and have two pieces of raid gear and three weapons (epilogue, verdict, and measure) but I know people who've done the raid twice a week (normal and hard) and have no weapons or armor whatsoever. I understand that Bungie wants you to work for your gear, and i respect and understand that. The difficulty of the raid makes it fun. But when you go through that butt pumping and at the end you get nothing that actually makes gameplay better (guns/armor)? And when that occurrence is not a rarity, but common? That's a problem. No one likes to work hard only to be underpaid. One fix would be to guarantee ONE piece of raid gear each time on each boss fight (especially now since it's actually difficult), either a weapon or armor. The other could be randomized between the other stuff. Complete randomization of rewards is not a good idea on something that intrinsically intertwined in progressing in the game.

You -blam!-ing kids, want it handed to you.. go play the game and stop bitching.. Ran the raid 20 times, but have every weapon in the game, all the raid gear and an exotic in every slot in the game.. GO PLAY THE GAME. stop being a pussy..

i opened this thread and saw i voted no a while ago. that was way before rngezus bent me over. now seeing that im not getting anything for time spent + effort applied i change my vote for yes. id willingly trade my titan stuff to my bf and he'd trade me his hunter items he has no use of cause we both tend to get gear for the classes we play the least.

      • Why not have a trade system for everything but raid gear? That way players can get exotic armor they want while also at the same time having to do the raid to reach level 30? I have sunbreakers and lucky raspberry just waiting to be traded since I'll never level up a warlock or hunter enough to use them.

      • Well, when I said I didn't want a trade system previously I had assumed weapons would be earned through feats of skill or farming the hell out of certain bosses. With how it is now, I see no reason for trade not to exist. There's really no great story behind how most of my fear was found that would sound any better than I traded for it.

      • If bungie made a fool proof trading system then I wouldn't mind trading items with my friends. I'd be pretty cool letting one my buddies try out my MIDA and my trying out the last word, but knowing how there are people that will always find loopholes despite bungie's best efforts to close them is why there isn't a trading system and probably never will be.

      • I agree they should not be a way to "Give" someone items, but a trade system where say, I could trade my Atheon's Epilogue for a Vision of Confluence is something I hope they add.

      • I appreciate what your saying, however having played pretty much everyday since day1 I can say that I have only ever had ine exotic drop; gjallahorn! I like it but not really my style of play. Now I would be quite happy to trade this for either an exotic Pulse or even an exotic sniper, come to think of it I would even trade it for a good legenday of either. Other in my clan who I regulary game with have what I want and vise versa! So yes a trade system would be great if it was controlled.

            • Yea trading would encourage hackers to get into people's accounts and steal their exotics/legendary and try to sell them to suckers. Of course you won't get help from Bungie if you lose stuff, since they don't have jack shit in terms of customer service..
