I think it takes a certain type of person to play a Titan effectively. You gotta know how to keep your ass alive when your in the front. Anyone can shoot from a distance and survive, but being in the front and having to constantly change your strategy (incoming enemies, pulling aggro etc) isn't for everyone.

That was my favorite part about being a titan. Pulling the aggro and keeping myself alive at the same time was a blast. Basically being a bullet sponge which was awesome. My buddy played a warlock but would die incredibly fast when he tried to show boat with a group of enemies. Eventually he got the hang of waiting until I rushed through pulled their attention and then he would hit them hard. We had a blast figuring out how to play our classes off eachother.
