  • The game will install 50gb in your ps4 regardless if it is disc or digital. It still has to install. Difference is that the file that allows the game to run will not be in your console if you buy the physicall version.

  • I'm not real tech savvy, don't understand why it'll eat up so much space just for saves if I'm running it off of a disc?

  • The disc holds the installation files and the archive needed for the game to run after you install it. Thats how people crack pc games: they use the regular installation files and tweak the start up archive to bypass the need to have a disc in or buy the game. Much the with ps4. When you buy physicall, that archive does not transfer to the ps4 since is not part of the installation. It has to run through the disc. If you get the digital version, it stays in there and the console runs it by itself when u decide to play. But is still the same ammount of space o. Your gard drive

  • So it's the new games that are taking up so much space? I know like on my 360 I had one if the original whites w/ a 14 G ext HD and I never filled it up. So the newer games are going to cause you to run through your memory wit the quickness? I don't mean to clutter your thread, I'm just trying to learn something new.

  • No worries, bro. Knowledge is power. Ps4 games do take a lot of space but so far the only 2 that i know for certain that are 50gb are destiny and last of us. Your question is related to why next gen dont support backwards compatibility. Among other things ofcourse. The power of the next gen is still being experienced with so each time we will see better and bigger games. So to shorten up the answer: yes, the new games are taking a lot more space.

  • So what do we do when we run out if memory space on our systems? Delete or transfer to USB? That kinda sucks. I'm still going with the physical because I've almost got it paid off w/ GS and I know to preorder on PSN you have to pay in full up front whereas GS I can kick up 30 bucks a week or whatever and it's less out if pocket at one time.
