The hand canon could use a little tweak. I love the idea of being dirty harry and just blowing dregs away, but instead of asking them if they feel lucky it's more like if I feel lucky. It just can't compete with the rifles. It just doesn't belong in the primary slot. Put it in the special weapon slot and buff its damage. Its a skill weapon with a low amo count, and it a good medium range weapon between the shotgun and sniper. It belongs there and them maybe it can get the love and respect it deserves. =)

  • I love the weapon as a primary i just think it needs buffed two head shots and a body shot is to much

  • To make the hand cannon balanced I think Bungie should add a few things 1: Make it shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger 2: Increase the headshot multiplier 3: Increase the reload speed (just a tiny bit) to balance with #1

  • Way back before the alpha, Bungie had the hand cannon in the secondary slot. As it is not really a powerful weapon, it would be better as a secondary.

  • Please don't make Hand Cannons Special. It's so very refreshing having a game where I don't have a rifle of some sort on my screen all the time. Rifles are just so... boring.

  • With a buff to up it'd damage/lower recoil and reload time it would be fine as a primary.

  • The more I think about this, the more I agree. The game needs a close-range primary weapon too, IMO. Like an SMG type thing. All ranges should be available in both primary and secondary slots.

  • Lets be honest, I wouldn't use the hand cannon over an auto or scout rifle, however, it it was made a special weapon (because big A$$ revolvers are secondary weapons) and it had a damage and reload speed buff, I would use it over a fusion rifle, shotgun and sniper rifle in situations when none of those weapons will help, for example, you want to have another weapon similar to a primary but has a different ammo pool, then just pull out your hand cannon

  • My friends and I talked about this topic all day Sunday...especially when one of them HAD to upgrade their weapon and the only (real) choice given to them was a Hand Cannon (it was the loot drop they received, the only weapon in the damage range at the Weapon Smith for their level, and the only type of primary weapon the Cryptarch was carrying at the time). We came to this conclusion: the Hand Cannon should actually be a Special (secondary) weapon while the Sniper Rifle should be a Primary weapon. Yes, there is the Scout Rifle, but honestly....if you're a true Hunter (ranger/sniper type), you're going to go for long distance as your primary weapon. Your backup (Special weapon) is going to be made for close combat - Shotgun, Fusion Gun . . . . Hand Cannon. Here are the reasons we came to this conclusion: * The Hand Cannon just does NOT have the distance, stability NOR ammo capacity that the other Primary weapons have. * Other than the Hand Cannon, the lowest ammo capacity Primary weapon we came across was 15. Nearly ALL of the Special weapons we came across had ammo capacities of 6 - the SAME as the Hand Cannon. * It is meant for close combat not range, while all of the other Primary weapons are meant for at least medium range combat. * The ONLY Special weapon that has range is the Sniper Rifle. So....why not swap the two? Either keep the the ammo capacity the same on the Sniper Rifle or bump it by 2 or 3. (Although 6 is fine - you're at range. If you're really firing at enemies close enough that they can get to you by the time you reload, then you need to switch to your Special weapon anyway.)

I don't want to use a rifle as a primary. I see it kinda like Hellboys revolver. A revolving cannon. All it needs is a headshot increase and it'll be fine. It just doesn't have the stopping power it should as a low ROF, low ammo weapon. Headshots. Keep it precision.

    • After playing for most of the beta time I have to say that there is a certain special allure to tromping around with a big ass pistol in your hands. However, on that note it IS A special weapon style and does need a damage buff for certain. While there are enemies that can be headshot for a OHK in aimed mode there is no reason to be placing three shots in the head for certain enemies of the same DMV lvl and them not going down. Two should do just fine tyvm! On that note an increase in the fire rate to shooting off the hip might be a beneficial idea as well. Since it wouldn't receive the dmg modifiers of the headshots three torso shots should do nicely. Also I came across a nice post about semi autos pistols that might provide an interesting route for bungie to take. As much as it was included in the trailers ATM it seems a little underpowered and I think bungie can do better

      • With the weapon system as it is, I do think the hand cannon should be a special. It just can't contend with the other primaries (especially the Auto Rifles). I think Bungie shot themselves in the foot with the 3 weapon system anyway though. I'm really not a fan. It kind of limits the types of weapons that we can get. It leaves no room for lower caliber side arms for instance. Where would they fit? They wouldn't with the way the system is and it's why they were left out.

      • With 6 shots and we can only hold 60 rounds at a time i will never use this class of gun.
