So it's official, 4 planets and only 1 destination on each one. Add this to invisibility and lags in PvP annnnnd...
I'm out, Beta was fun for the most part, thanks bungie, I wish the game success.
Destiny players have seen a lot of Old Russia and some of the Moon yesterday evening, and it seems like that’s not the small slice we originally thought it was.
Addressing this concern, Bungie’s David Dague aka Deej stated in a live stream (around 1:49) that each planet — Mars, Earth, Moon, and Venus — only has one “destination” – as Bungie calls the areas — that you’ll explore on each planet. This means that Old Russia is it for the Earth.
Edited by Eternity: 7/27/2014 12:00:39 PMBear in mind that although we have seen Old Russia, we haven't seen all of it, nor all of the quests from it. Honestly, I think if you're expecting Destiny to be Skyrim in terms of hours of 'exploring' content, you're sorely mistaken on what this game is about. Most loot/stats driven action games take about 20 or so hours on the first playthrough, then you get to the 'end game' content, which is where the game 'really starts'. I don't expect Destiny to be any different in this regard. Probably 5 places to go (Earth, the Moon, Mars, Venus, and the Reef), one huge map on each, probably 6 - 8 story missions, 1 - 2 strikes, and 1 raid per place, then some additional 'end game' content (e.g. the 'Vault of Glass') It's also worth mentioning that the Moon (90% of which appears to be within the Hellmouth) is so completely different to Old Russia in design and vibe that you could almost be playing a different game.

A much more appropriate comparison/expectation is serial Halo 3: ODST's. Multiple hubs, multiple attached missions.

Yeah possibly. To be clear, I expect that the sum of all story/strike/raid missions (i.e. the base PvE content, ignoring exploring and any other modes/things to do) to take more time to complete than any of the Halo campaigns. A lot more time.
