It is really annoying and very dishonest of Bungie as they state in the Beta FAQ that trial accounts are fully supported.

Q. Will the Destiny Beta require PlayStation Plus or Xbox LIVE Gold?
Xbox LIVE Gold is required to download and play on Xbox platforms. PlayStation Plus is required for some activities on PlayStation platforms. [u]Trial accounts for both platforms are fully supported[/u]. Destiny also requires a broadband internet connection.

It's not like they decided to pick on the tiny portion of the population who are both on trials and on the 360 and decide "these guys, lets not let these guys play, because lol". Nothing dishonest about it, that's what they had been told would be allowed, and they announced a correction as soon as they were made aware of the issue.
