That's fine. Some folks want to play a game like they're watching a movie or reading a book; the gender of the character doesn't matter because it's not meant to represent them. Others play characters that they want to represent themselves to build immersion and sometimes a bit of healthy escapism. Nothing wrong with either one. You're not attracted to males for playing a male character, and you're not secretly wanting to be a female or a douchebag or a lesbian by playing as a woman. The options are there for you to exploit on purpose.
