I believe its a corruption of your profile save on their servers.
My profile just started getting the error, cant get past the first screen (press X). It says the error is Centipede and blames network, but my network is perfectly fine.
The reason I think its corruption is that if I sign into my friends account on the same PS4 it starts up perfectly fine. A possible and temporary fix would be add the ability to reset our profile.
Try using the Destiny app on your phone, mine claims that I have yet to create a character even though Ive used it before and created 2 characters.

Same for me.. I think you are right, our save seems to be corrupt :/ I hope Bungie will do something soon :(

signed into my gfs account on my ps4 and works fine as well. Good thinking! But if they dont fix it it can easily happen again and my account wont get the beta testing stuff.

Yeah says I don't have any characters created but should I just delete destiny and re-install it or just the save data?

I checked for save data to delete from the hard drive or from the cloud, there was no save data from Destiny. My guess is that all of our saves are put on their servers, so theres nothing we can do about resetting our data. I think its on their servers because I can access my friends profile and characters immediately without downloading anything even though hes only played on his seperate PS4.

Im on the same boat! I already had two Hunters set up (one was for coop with a friend so we needed to have similar levels), and who knows how many hours already. I trust Bungie will do what they can, hopefully before its too late for us to finish what weve started. Only time will tell I suppose!

I wish I couldve gotten the Ghost Edition too, but its a tad too expensive for me. Lets just go ahead and decide that youre getting all of your bad luck out of the way, and that leaves only the best of luck for when the game really releases! Think of all the great loot youre going to be getting haha

Yeah idk if that means good lucks ahead, maybe I'm just always unlucky, never been that lucky of a person lol. Probably have to grind like crazy to go any good weapons or gear too.

That would make sense but how do you explain the time I spent playing the beta before I got the error?

Well every time you do anything in the game, it overwrites your previous save with the new one to keep your new items, XP, and etc. Bad luck and a bug resulted in the new save being corrupt, ruining what you had before.

That could very well be the conclusion, but it could also be something very minor that locked everything up. Theres always a possbility that Bungie could find the tiny error thats keeping us from signing in and fix it without ruining the rest of our data. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!

I wish I could say Im either of those haha but thank you! Its mostly estimated guesses, so dont take what I say as fact. Lets just hope Bungie can chime in with what theyre planning on doing to fix our problem and do so before the end of the beta!

Its hard to say, especially since they have the error originally tagged as something to do with network which appears to not really be the cause. Once they publicly address the problem then they should give an estimate on the time itll take to fix. Best possible scenario: We wake up tomorrow morning and they fixed it because they realized the real cause. Not totally probable but its still a possibility!
